Simple question -- under the llm guidelines, when hiring staff is it preferable to only hire folks that respond to job postings? My gut feeling is to say yes, but it's not clear from the guidelines thread.

Agreed. Though it's also not a polite way to acknowledge people on their first post -- as I've observed to happen repeatedly in the last week or so of lurking.

We don't flame people who read the guidelines and rules and (try) to abide by them.

A simple answer in 2006 the job centre sucked hence better to search for staff but only if unemployed and with a reputation the same level or lower than yours and in lower leagues from your country and speaking your language. Ie keep it realistic.

In 2007 in the demo the job centre seems to work better so it may be an option, but I would still use my judgement to filter out applicants who may be unrealistic.
