You will definately turn professional eventually. I got Queen's Park to Division 1 and then we turned professional.
I think (but I'm not sure) that turning professional is dependant upon being in a good league and your club's finances - so if your in debt then you might have to wait til the SPL.

How could you read that challenge thread without your eyes burning out (if it was the one by Dafuge that I am thinking of)???
Looked at the first page of that once and there were horrendous crimes against LLM!!!
| Quite easily actually. I didn't start at the beginning of the challenge, (although I did read up on what was written when I started), and I just refused to sign any of the 'Super Players' that were listed in the thread.
See, easy .

Oh yeah, and I continued with a variation on a certain tactic all the way through the challenge. I wasn't tempted at all.

| Sorry, not your fault, but that's not realistic:
From the official Queen's Park website Quote:
Of all the forty-two clubs that make up Scotland's senior football leagues, only Queen's Park remains staunchly amateur...
Season 1999/2000 came... The manager tried and eventually managed to persuade the club to allow players from professional clubs, to come 'on loan' for short spells.
(2006)...the 'glorious hoops' continue to maintain their amateur ethics in an ever-changing world of football, playing all home games within the palatial surroundings of Hampden Park.
| In other words, Queen's Park should never become professional unless and until the (real) club makes a policy change contrary to that of its entire 140 year existence.

Queens' Park is an unfortunate example. I remember having this discussion before when I managed The Spiders. Properly, IRL QP will NEVER pay a transfer fee, nor will they pay any salary above the statutory expense (IIRC c. 30 quid per match - which is a fortune compared with 10 quid a week at East Stirling!).
Alas, the game cannot replicate this; the nearest I could achieve was to only ever offer the minimum salary on offer when negotiating contracts.
In the game, I think a criterion for persuading the board to go full-time is to have all your first team squad (and backroom?) on full-time contracts - again something wholly contrary to the Corinthian ethos of Queens'Park.

One of the Crappers did amazing things with QP, despite limiting himself as much as he could.
