Slovenian Division 2 nice!
Just checked the top leagues of N.I, a few teams are semi-professional so I rephrase my initial statement. League status has no effect on your status, finances is eminently significant towards your status.

I think that there are a number of factors which determined your rise from semi-professional to professional
Stadium size, money, fulltime players ( very important), finances and last your league status.

Yeah i think hes right, but i found when your status is semi-pro it is quite hard to sign players on full time contracts, anyone else expierienced this?
| It has nothing to do with, stadium size, or whether your players are on part time or full time contracts.
In FM2006 you only had one chance per season to turn professional, (or turn semi-pro if you are really crap). The date that this happens, (if it is going to happen, is the date that the new season starts. I don't mean the day of the first game, I mean the day when you get your youth players promoted, the day when you get news on any stadium expoansion, details of transfer budget for the season and board expectations. The first day this could happen in FM2006 was 20th June 2006. I'm not sure if this date stays the same or if it changes slightly every year.
What triggers the change from semi-pro to pro, or vice versa, is reputation. The only problem is that I don't know what has an effect on reputation. I would guess that the individual reputation of your players is taken into account, I would also guess that how succesful your club was in the last 12 months would affect it too.
It definitely, 100%, categorically, is NOT, stadium size and the type of contract that the players are on that affects this.

| I don't think so.
If this was the case, clubs who enter receivership would automatically turn semi-pro. It may be a contributing factor, but I don't think that it is .

Jimbokav some good points although I agree to some extent, stadium size contributes to your reputation therefore contributes to your status. Hope you follow me

If you do wel enough, you'll turn professional, eventually.
| My St Albans board anounced it while I was still in Conference. Mind you that was season 8 or something. I think it depends largely on your financial state cause it happened to me after having sold some players to higher level clubs for decent fees.

| I follow you but I just don't agree I'm afraid.
I was a member of a challenge thread in GQ that saw you take control of a team promoted into the Conference North/South at the end of the first season. Because of this I had access to not only my game, but info about all the other posters in the thread. I can assure you that stadium size has no bearing on the outcome at all.
There were teams with decent size stadiums who didn't turn professional until League 1 and there were teams, (like mine), with tiny stadiums, who turned pro after being promoted to League 2. Some teams even turned pro after fetting promoted to the Conf National.

How could you read that challenge thread without your eyes burning out (if it was the one by Dafuge that I am thinking of)???
Looked at the first page of that once and there were horrendous crimes against LLM!!!
