Overall I think the new scouting engine is a hit, the actual scout reports are usefull. But the main gripe I have this time is that scouts cant actually find anyone.
On FM06, ok the scout reports would be none existant but If I told my scout to go look for players in England a couple of months later he would coem abck with 20/30 people. Which I can look at and shortlist down to have a closer look at the better ones.
On this ive sent my scout to look for players in England for currently 42 days (almost 2 months) and how many has he found? 1 player, yes one player. A 37 year old goalkeeper with impresive coaching stats but will ask far too much in wages (he's currently on £700 p/w, do you think he's going to take around a £600 pay cut, dont think so)
My club is in serious debt (Thurrock) And im going to have to let go of about half my overpaid first team to ballance to books. Now how on earth am I going to replace them come the summer if my scouts only found 4/5 players?
I was almost tempted to use the player search to shortlist my players, but resisted somehow :stunned:
So has anyone else encounted this, or is this just me getting paraniod over nothing?
The new scouting system is a good move and i like the improved reports and im standing on the fence for now. Im still waiting for my scout who i employ to give me suggestions on prospects to come and have a word in my shell-like. I go have a word with him and he has one or 2 useful things to say. So i go tell him to have another closer look. Im playing with real players and doing a bit of scouting of my own too. As i do when playing with random players.
Although the new scouting system is a spiffy idea, be wary if you find yourself at a certain Welsh team that the game treats as English. For you may find that your staffs' hard-earned knowledge is wasted when you find out where you're allowed to scout...
16 days in and my sole scout has given me dozens of report cards on the players mentioned in the media and bid on by other teams, occasionally even in time for me to make a bid of my own. I've already signed two players this way - I considered it a realistic gambit to bid for players based on just the scout's Report Card when they were unsigned and had already been offered a contract by a rival club - a matter of take the risk or lose the player.
He's yet to report back on players for whom I've asked him to watch for 3 games, but then our first friendly is still a couple of weeks away yet...
There's been no shortage of players to scout, even before the season starts, when he might start recommending players he's seen play, so my initial impression is that the new scouting system works fine.
Yeah, not so keen on the job centre meself, still getting interested people with compensation over what my budget allows (Also a lot of applicants from good scottish clubs [Prem and down] when I tried Workington for a bit in demo).
As for scouts, some limited success so far, though mainly backing up my own scouting trips (watching games at local clubs in game, as i'm in Minsk in game that counts for quite a few teams).
Not so keen on the scouting trips of only 4 days, but they have to make us llamas earn our virtual pay somehow .

Job centre, though...
Yeah.. more applicants, but last time I tried (in the demo), all were out of my budget, both salary- and compensation-wise. Job adverts tend to have some information on the salary range you'll be offered, so this is still far from realistic.
Scouting works fine, methinks. Report card is fine, but the info you get after three matches is great. Still, I'd like to try it out for a full season or three - I guess there's still a few glitches in there..
