Sporty boys in Llama land - an update from the home of the llama
Sporty boys in Llama land.
Frank sent me home to his mates in Peru, so I was off getting into the pink tracksuits of Sport Boys. Funny name for a club with players who dozed off at half time, I was to find out.
Loaded up Brazils 3d div, Portugal, Spain, England and Norway. Played as a Norwegian manager, so wanted a plausible way out of South America, as well as the chicked option of running home if the Llamas spat at me.
Peruvian seasons got an opening and a close season, all just fancytalk for putting two seasons into one year, as League champions is crowned after each of the opening/closing seasons.
SEASON ONE
Assessed squad, not all bad. Finances were good, 750k or so in the blacks, wages under control. I signed a few coaches, as the two I had got signed on as managers for clubs in my league, and actally beat me in all the 11 matches I played against them before it all ended.
My two scouts dug up some midfielders and a back who proved their worth, all Peruvians, all with stamina at.. let's be fair and call it "below average". Below average was also the turnout at my preseason friendlies, attracting a crowd of a whpoong 55 in average, all bringing their pet llamas of xure.
Season started swimmingly, my new midfielders doing well and banging in goals from direct free kicks. One of the FCs insists on scoring on headers, even though he's only 171 cm. All seems good as I finish 4th after the opening season, on GD in a crowd of 4 on 44 pts, miles behind the three at the top, who combined smashed me 19-0 in the six matches i played them.

Close season starts with 5 consecutive draws, 4 of them 0-0 - my strikers seems to hit the sidelines more than the 'keeper. To add fuel to the fire, the overall squad condition after the summer break is deteriorating. Key players hitting the 50%s after half time, on one occation my once on-fire AMC star hits 1%(!!!) after 15 minutes. No injury, pure slacking. I told them to stay off the peyote!
Had no cash to bring in new players, and as my key players succumbed to jadedness, injuries, moaning and throwing bosmans in my face, I succumb to bringing in my reserves and U20's. Some are performing, one scores a hattrick to secure my first win of the season, away at the previously unbeatable Allianz Lima, last seasons champs.
It's all just a tease, though, as I plummet like a rock and is dead last after 15 matches.
After bringing in another coach, swapping training regimes and fidd'ling with the tactics, I slowly crawl up the table and finish 10th. Noone are happy.

My average attendance is about 300, and my wage bill got a bit overloaded with my first signings. Bottom line is, well, red, and we're losing money. Fast. Had to rid myself of my starlets, and bring in some no-hopers. Two of my best players, a DC and a AMC/FC, retires for a career in llama herding.
My promoted reserves is now the backbone of the squad. Not a very solid one, as it breaks mid-season. We plummet, after a respectable start that saw us flirting with bronze after ~10 matches. 7 defeats in a row is a club record, and I start to investigate the job opportunities in Brazilian 3d division.
Seems I got caught reading the ads: both the chairman and some of my seasoned first 11 faves start losing confidence in me. After the fans (what fans?) starts rioting (5 guys chewing cactus and getting their llamas to spit at my photo for sure), I get the boot.

Norway or Brazil seems most likely to be the target right now. Anyway I'm off on holiday.

Yeah well, it might be cheeky, but it's the same number of matches as ie. the Norwegian leagues. Originally thought I'd wait until I'd played three years, but the high road seemed less appealing as I got fired.
Kallinan, Peru wasn't all bad, but it's very different as a LLM experience: only one league, shortage of local players (the amount of Brazilian staff and players had a substantial effect). The difference between the teams was also great, and it seemed unbalanced in a way: big, empty stadiums, even when you're doing good.
I might make it playable in my 07 game though, as a homage to Frank
