Thanks. And the speed of it - well, tbh I don't do so deep into this game as I normally do. The team might take ages to get promoted, and at the same time the lads are doing too good to be relegated. And then FM07 is lurking in the back of my head...

With all the Brazilians out of the way, I can now concenrate on

SEASON 6

Expectations much like last year. Had trouble finding talent that would come my way, as money was drier than Jerry Seinfeld. Managed to hold on to my U21 regular and put off my soon-to-be-37 FC/Coach's impending retirement, and promoted a promising DC, other than that, no strengthening. Hence, I had not much hope of improving last year's league position.

Cups -- well, I got to second round this year.

It's been kind of a tradition with Askøy to lose the first game(s) of the season. This year is like christmas trees and easter eggs, as we get absoluely hammered by newly-relegated rivals Åsane at home, 11-0 (4 pens, three red cards, one for each keeper and one for my DMC. And this was all in the first 30 mins.). My biggest defeat in 06 ever, and it may well be the biggest defeat since I played CM94 on my SX33. Well then.

I resist resigning, and we slowly get the goal difference in plus, but it takes a good 2/3 of a season. Some transfer activity in the summer break sees us off on good form in the autumn, and second to Åsane with 3 matches left, 9 pts behind. We win 2, draw one, they draw one and lose 2. They're still ahead. On goal difference.

Still, happy to finish 2nd (W17 D5 L4 +13 56pts). But next season, I'm up against LøvHam again...

SEASON 7

As stated above, I dreaded the thought of battling with LøvHam for promotion. Turned out it was in vain, as they fired their boss and wanted me instead. So I picked up my stuff and waved goodbye as I crossed the bridge (yes, there's virtually just a bridge between the two teams IRL).

LøvHam was a big step-up - more talent, hence more fans, hence more cash. All this comes with the bitter aftertaste of expectation, wich was promotion - no less.

The hopes of bringing with me my U21-starlet withered as some obscure League 1 side (Tottenham...) decided they wanted him. My scout did however find half of my former squad all by himself. Singed two of them, my homebred DC being one.

A bit of additional strengthening in each department saw me off on a flyer, with no defeat until the 10th match. Drew both of my Askøy games, and got resoundly beaten in the cup. A run of 4 straight defeats near the end of the season saw me losing a 10 point lead, but I managed to claw back on top, and secured promotion with one match in hand.

So I pat myself on the back, and hope I can stop this yoyo next year.

By my reckoning they'd be ahead on points, too, by 3.

Maybe they have five points for a win there.
