i remember an old footie manager or it was maybe a champ man patch that got rid of the stupid under 21 Scottish rule. does anyone know if there is a patch that will get rid of this? worst rule ive ever heard in my life.

And they have to be Scottish (I think). It's to encourage development of domestic players. They're considering something similar for England, I actually think it's a good idea. (Is gavvodka23 Arsene Wenger in disguise?)

I don't know if its a new feature in FM2008 but you are now required to have a goalie on your subs bench as well. Makes things quite challenging I think. I don't think it can be removed as there is no way to change the league rules with the editor that comes with the game. Perhaps there is a third party one that can do it.

You have to have 3 under 21 players in the squad, but when you're allowed 7 subs its not a massive problem. If you want a challenge try the welsh league where you're only allowed 3 subs on the bench!

They don't have to be Scottish. Just U-21. I think its a stupid rule.

Its a way to give the youngsters matchday experience I suppose. In my opinion having 3 U-21 players in a squad of 18 isnt that much of a problem. You can still have 15 senior players.

The problem is when those players that have been brought through hit 22 they can't even make the bench. Makes the rule pointless.

You basically only have space for 4 first team players on the bench older than 21, one being a keeper, and the 3 youngsters end up sitting on the bench for the entire season unless the team's 4-0 up.

The whole rule's pointless and is getting scrapped next season.

I don't think it is a great rule, but it is there in real life, so should be in the game IMHO.
