Default I have quit!!! No longer fun!!!

I have finally quit as manager of Oldham, I cant cope any longer the game is no longer fun!!

I understand everyone saying change the tactics etc but none of the top teams do it, I watch Oldham every week and they dont do it. I prefer a 4-4-2 and seem to get beat more than I win, I get slaughtered by the board after Newcastle beat me 5-2 AET after ending 2-2 after 90 mins, the board are not happy when I get beat by Man u 3-0 at Old Trafford. The 1 on 1 is unbelievable, people say its the tactics but a 1 on 1 is a clear chance on goal how can tactics make my striker miss or the other teams keeper world class and to cap it all players with less speed than my own are outrunning my players!!!

I think im going to return to champ manager 2006 as its easy to get into and the results are more believable without a different formation for each game!!!

I think being a real life football manager is a lot less fun than it was 10 years ago.

You just can't get away with pretending to be Kevin Keegan any more

He has a point how often do you see teams change their tactice maybe 2 or 3 times a season and they alway have a prefered tactic but in this if you dont change your tactics about every 3 games it goes stale as the AI has "adjusted to your tactic" fair enough if its the same team you played for the last 3 games and they counter your tactic but it annoys me having to have about 4 tactics ready to keep changing.

i had a major struggle in the middle of my first season.
i started off winning the first 5 games then couldn't win for anything.
finally in december i strung a few draws together, admittedly against teams i shiould have beaten with liverpool, and started getting a few wins as well. still inconsistent though.
now we're into the last 10 prem games of the season and i've won 5 of my last 7 games (drawn 1 lost 1) and am making up for lost time.
i'm now 6th place but can see myself getting into the top 4 soon.

oh and that's all with a 4-4-2.
and why do people think that tactics starts and ends with formation?

tactics change almost every game in real life.
from players to keep an eye on, from marking a player out of the game to zonal marking in the next game. from playing a 442 with both CM sitting back hoping to hit on the break to a 442 with your CMs betting forward.

getting your wingers to the goal line to cross or asking them to cut in and help out in the middle.
tactics change in every single game in real life.

Go back to beta patch 1, I can't recommend this highly enough. I was struggling to score more than 1 goal most games and missing loads of sitters with the full patch, now I'm trouncing teams and scoring for fun with the same tactics on the beta. IMO the morale bug isn't as much of a problem on beta 1 than beta 2, which is why I think this is the best option.

trouncing teams for fun? to me that sounds like a match engine problem.
people want the match engine to be realistic but then others happily revel in the problems.

Well I'm having a great time - even with 8.0.1 patched version of the game.

Take a look - My Amazing Hyde United Game

My game is unedited, I've not cheated in any way, (unless you adhere to LLM rules in their forum about starting as a high rep manager ) and I've started as a crap team, yet I'm having a super time!

I accept that there *are* issues with bugs in the game. I accept that fm2008 *is* harder to play or get into for newer players, perhaps.

BUT...

Ultimately, there *is* an editor bundled with the game - if you want an instant *winning* game, then why not have a play with that. Try reading through the tactics and training forum, look at the good players forum - they're both a wealth of information from countless players who are enjoying the game.

If you're still not happy - try some of the old abandonware sites, where you can download classics such as the original Premier Manager, USM and other similar games, where winning was more a formality than a challenge!!
