After many failed attempts of using other peoples tactics, and also creating my own, I've finally created a tactic that works for me home and away. If you are having issues winning or scoring then give this tactic a go. Its worked wonders for me with teams such as Q.P.R, Aldershot Town & Tottenham.
Tactical Formation:
4-4-2 - Straight back 4, two MC's in the middle of the park and the wingers in the AML & AMR positions further up from a straight ML or MR position. Both with attacking arrows to the byline.
Style of play:
This is a very attacking formation, so you will need some quick wingers with good crossing and dribbling stats. It works as a counter attacking formation, so there is also the need for some quick forwards, and also some full backs with half decent attacking skills. I've had full backs with more assists than any of the midfielders using this tactic, so make your full back selections carefully.
Due to the attack mind of the tactic you will be prone to some pressure, so strong hard working and good tackling centre mids are requires with some solid centre backs that are good in the air.
Team instructions:
Like I’ve said, this is an attacking formation. The attack bar is nearly all the way to the end, which makes it perfect for a counter attack tactic. The tempo is fast, but only a few nudges from the middle of the tempo bar. If you have slow tempo, then there is no point in an attacking counter attack tactic.
I don’t use a target man, nor do I use a playmaker. Most of the creativity comes from the wings and full backs. If your MC's aren’t getting glowing praise, don’t worry as they haven’t got massive involvement with goals and assists, altho a very good MC will get about 6-10 in each.
Player instructions:
FC - The forward on the right is instructed to fully make forward runs and also to run with the ball. Pick the quickest player and best finisher for this position. The other forward is left to team instructions.
AML/R - The wingers are both set to make forward runs, and to run with the ball. Perfect for counter attacks.
MC's - One MC is a defensive able defender. No forward runs, and no running with the ball. Someone strong, fit, good in the air and hard tackler, but also needs good creativity and passing as he will be the more creative of the two. The other is to make forward runs, but rarely run with the ball, and also has little creative freedom.
CB's - Both set to stay back at all times, apart from corners where they both go up leaving the right back to cover defence.
RB/LB - Both set to make forward runs, but rarely run with the ball. Make sure they are good crossers and passers, as you will get many assists from the full backs.
I use this tactic for both home and away, altho if you are facing a very strong side away, I sometimes move the AML & AMR to the ML & MR positions with no attacking arrows.
I have used this tactic for 5/6 seasons with Q.P.R and I've made them a force in the
prem and champions league. I've also done very well with Aldershot Town, and I have won pretty much everything as Tottenham within 3-4 seasons.
