Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default stats help please

I don't know whether or not this is the place for this topic if not sorry

I have a friend playing FM07 who uses overall stats per player in their position.

Whereas looking through the forums I tend to use the Positional stats only

Please settle an argument Who is right????

Sorry Rashidi

Its just for my own piece of mind as I am a newbie

Because there are a lot of cases where positional stats are better & the overall stats are not as good

don't apologise. I don't understand what you mean by "overall" stats by position. Perhaps if you listed out the stats in detail it'd be easier to understand.

Thanks Rashidi

I will give you a couple of examples of what I mean

AMR Pace 15 Crossing 15 Dribbling 3 with Overall stats (Blue Bars) more than:-

AMR Pace 13 Crossing 13 Dribbling 13

AML Pace 8 Crossing 9 Dribbling 8 with Overall stats better than

AML Pace 13 Crossing 13 Dribbling 13

So if tou take positional stats only!! in both cases the second two players would be better but the overall stats (Blue Bars) the first two would be better.

So going back to the first player with low dribbling stats if you then search for a player with higher positional stats it will probably not work as the first player has better overall stats so which one would you choose?

Many Thanks

There are a whole host of attributes that are important. It really depends on your style of play.

For example, assuming you are a conference side; you will find that physical stats are the most important. You need to be fitter than the rest and if you have more pace, regardless of position.

Then you have their technical stats that refer to the position they play in, like tackling, marking and positioning. Then these become important.

In the premiership technical skills are very important.

When it comes to deciding on who I want, I usually look at their physical, technical and mental stats, in that order depending on the league you are in.

For example, I want a winger who's good at crossing, beating his player, is hardworking and will close down and support the defense...then I look at :

Pace, off the ball, crossing, passing, decisions, determination, stamina, workrate, bravery and positioning. All other stats aren't as important, but if he fails this list he's out.

Cheers Rashidi

As i said earlier i am the dreaded "newbie" in Div 2 with Hartlepool and methinks i am trying to make the game too complicated with trying to get a "perfect" team

Insight into your views very helpful as are the snippets set up by Yourself, Cleon, WWFan etc

Once again much appreciated

Many Thanks

Sorry to bother you again Rashidi 1 But is there anywhere in the forums that will give me info on the breakdown of these stats per Position/League? At the moment I am using Cleons version of who he looks for & I have noticed that not all of the stats are mentioned
(in Sheff Utd project)

Do you mean the thread that Cleon did which defines the important stats for each posisition? If you don't - that is in the tactics bible IIRC.
