I'm struggling with getting the best out of Gerrard he should be the leading light but i'm obviously not doing something right.
At the min he plays AMC in a 442 diamond formation, he regular gets scores of 6 and no matter what team talk i give him he doesn't seem to listen or there is nothing specific noted about him.
On the sliders i ask him to close down (as he does so well for liverpool) and give him the first notch on creative freedom, he has long shots often the rest is fairly standard.
Can someone advise to what the best thing to do with him is...i can't get rid of him everyone in the squad loves him it'd cause massive unrest. (oh i'm still in the first season with him)
Thank you, don't suppose you've had him in a team and used a teamtalk that will actually say something different to looks uninterested or nothing specific noted?
Can't say I've used him in a diamond, but I play him as the more attacking of my 2 MCs, and usually get an average rating of 7.5. Depends a lot on your tactics: is he a playmaker? What passing style is he on? What's his mentality? Does he see much of the ball?

No he's not a playmaker, thought if i centralised my play through one player too much the AI may work it out and it would be too one dimensional. He does tend to get quiet a lot of the ball he seems to pick up a lot of ball from the strong target man (Toni) and from the wingers when they aren't beating their man they look to him. My settings for him are:-
Mentality - First notch of attacking (same as team)
Creat Freedom - 3 notchs up from middle
Passing - 3 notchs up from middle (same as team)
Closing Down - mixed
Tackling - Hard
Run W Ball - Often
Long shots, through balls, cross ball all in the middle.
I did make a tactic based around gerrard, its quite old before i developed a more stable tactical system but it may be of some help when devising your own liverpool tactic.
I havent got around to working out in what situation its most effective, but it has some virtues
