I was thinking of playing a 433 formation with 3 forwards instead of an attacking left and right midfielders. Has anyone had any success with this or is it prone to failure.

Ive used my own 433 and have had some degree of success. However, I find you need a good target man in the middle of the front 3 for it to work.

I have Ashton or Okaka in the middle with Owen and Walcott wider.

The problem I had was both Ashton and Okaka were injured so I had 3 short forwards and got turned over 2-0 by Derby a week after getting a 0-0 at the Emirates!

Currently 2nd in EPL at Xmas using a similar formation (i have a DMC and 2 MC) do have a big targetman but both he and his backup are injured so hope i have better luck than Hammer at getting it to work with the smaller guys.

I have already started by own thread about this formation...

I use a playmaker in the centre of midfield which helps play. I havent tried with Target Man but i think it sounds good if the right player.

4-3-3 using playmaker

It's a tactic I use when chasing a game.

Had lots of success in 2006 with this, mixed with 2007.
