playing without the patch and trying to live with the closing down bug, i signed podolski in the jan 08 window, bayern had him available for loan (i guess toni/klose were keeping him out of the team) but my scouts said i could get him for around £4.9m, so i paid £3m upfront then £2.5m over 24 months.
in late april now i have noticed that he is rather selfish infront of goal.
i'm thinking i should try and sell him in july as i have aguero, maxi rodiguez (coming in on a free), gilardino, pato to play upfront and potentially oliveria to come back from loan if zaragoza dont take up the option on him.
i play milan's 4-1-2-1-2 with aguero and gilardino/pato starting and not sure i need another fast striker.
what do you think, loan out for a few years and try and make some money back on him later, after all he is only around 22/23 and i dont particularly need funds right this moment.
or is he a lost cause and ditch him now because i'm not sure he will fit in my plans anymore.
Seems kind of early to give up on him esp. since he is young. Plus in terms of stats, you'd probably have to pay premium if you want to get a comparable replacement at the same age in the future. Of course if you need the money (which it sounds like you don't) or the salary space, then its your call. Loan is probably the best option, esp. if he has the chance for first team action. At the least it can showcase him and hopefully he scores a ton of goals.
As far as the selfish thing I assume you're referring to him taking ridiculous shots or just running w/ the ball and refusing to pass. Obviously if you have his setting to run with the ball turned up to take advantage of his speed, you should def. lower that. Sometimes the longer you're striker plays with the team he'll start being more of a team player and actually look for passes. I noticed that with Eddie Johnson when I bought him for Reading. By 2nd half of the season he was actually looking to setup other players and holding up the play instead of just running around with the ball and shooting about a mile off target in a crowd.
i'll consider sending him out on loan and see if his value goes up. might send him to blackburn (feeder), see if i can help them into europe!
it just seems to be a waste having 3 speedy strikers and only 1 proper target man (not sure what catergory oliveria falls into).
trying to get bendtner, he did awesome for me in the demo and got him on loan then too! made an offer in the full ver and i even went along with arsenal's outrageous asking price of £40m and when i went to offer a contract, the bugger wanted £100k/week!!
