You can't sign Aaritalo to Villa, he doesn't like the team and won't accept any offers. The two players that I made a HUUUGE impact on my Villa side was VdV and Jefferson Farfan (7.5m euros + 30% sell on). Farfan scores more goals than I have ever seen as a winger and hes doing it again for my Middlesbrough side.

Nigel de Jong 10.5 (8+30 sell on) (excellent young DM)

Jean II Makoun 14 (older than de Jong but better the first year and seems to get less yellows)

Justin Hoyte 5.5 (decent right back for a year or 2)

Guilherme (Vasco) 7.75 (young left back, good offensive back)

Vaart 16 (14+30 sell on) (think everyone knows VdV is excellent quality for the price)

Farfan 9 (7.5+30 sell on) (best winger I have seen for a midtable team, natural AML but hes played AMR for me as well as Ronaldo)

Eddie Johnson 3.8 (lacks composure but still led my Villa side in goals and forced his way into the 1st team by scoring 1-2 goals a game from the bench)

Fernando Belluschi 7.25 (right winger, went with farfan instead so not sure how good he is)

Jeremy Menez (Monaco) 14.5 (AMRLC, FC, had him in my first Villa game and he was superb but again, Farfan is flawless for less)

Luka Modric 5.5 (AMRLC, had him on my Palermo side when I couldn't get VdV, very good AMC and decent ML but too slow for a left winger for my tastes)

My problem with De Jong is that in FM07 he cost 2.5m, and now he costs a load. Otherwise i would've signed him by now... Il Makoun seems a better option, seeing im not sure how far De Jong will progress.

I signed both to my Villa side, was playing a 4-3-2-1 (2 DM, 1 MC, AMR/AML, ST) with De Jong and Makoun as my 2 starting DM's. The tactic worked great for me but the new patch fixed the match engine and what was a great tactic for the lack of closing down of the original engine is now too defensive for the new beta engine. On highlights I always say Makoun playing better but as far as stats, de Jong had more tackles, headers, interceptions. de Jong and Guilherme led the league in tackles per game.

My coaches rate de Jong at 4* with a potential of 4* but hes been solid as my Boro DM (couldn't afford Makoun). And his value has gone up to 12m euros so might be a good sell for season 2.

Half way through the second season Man Utd should go bankrupt and a special administration takes over which basicaly sells players like Rooney or C.Ronaldo for 10M (maybe even lower, if you bargain).

I have 3 games in 2nd or 3rd season and haven't seen this, did man utd perform poorly in your season?
