All I can surmise is that you're being over-defensive about the appearance that a lot of the clubs followers are former Man Utd gloryhunters who still want Glazer out and will return to the club when he has left.
Glory hunters...??? Aren't they the out of towners that every one slags United off for..???

How can anyone call the people who set FCUM up 'former glory hunters'..??? These are the type of FANS who followed their club through thick and mostly thin before 1992!!!!!

The reason for setting up the club was not purely down to the Glazer takeover. It was down to being ripped off going to football, told to sit down and be quiet (quiet at a football game..???!!??), charged extortianate prices and generally not being given a toss about by the club, sorry brand!!!

We (yes I am one) decided to stand up against the crass commercialisation of football today and am proud of it.

Another thing that some fools seem to believe is that we no longer follow Man Utd. NOTHING has changed in that respect. The only difference is that we choose not to pay to reduce Glazers debt!!

So before you and any other ill informed fools start spouting crap, best to do some research beforehand.

Screaming "research the club" will not gain respect from the majority of football fans. Helping them understand how and why the club was formed will.

The media saw the formation of FCUM and decided to portray it as a new club to take the disaffected supporters away from Man Utd. (there you go, I can do it sometimes )

The disaffected Man Utd supporters used this opportunity to also portray the club in the same light.

With poported supporters acting like that, it's no wonder that the general perception is the way it is.

There are two types of fan. The glory hunter and the real fan. I was not accusing anyone of being glory hunters. I was talking about the public perception.

Boosan you raise a good point concerning modern football regarding the present.

Make no mistake i understand the principles of why sections of the fans disintegrated from Manchester United to form a new allegiance.

However by by conducting your argument with your tone of writing and aggressiveness. You will get no where.

Ok then i'll do the research for you.

FC United of Manchester is a new football club founded by disaffected and disenfranchised Manchester United supporters. Our aim is to create a sustainable club for the long term which is owned and democratically run by its members, which is accessible to all the communities of Manchester and one in which they can participate fully.

Although driven by very different circumstances, FC United of Manchester takes as its inspiration a number of supporters' groups who have gone down this route, including AFC Wimbledon, who have offered unstinting support.

FC United of Manchester is intended to create a football club which addresses the concerns which many Manchester United fans have had over the last decade or more with how the club and football have developed, culminating in the club's takeover by Malcolm Glazer. We will follow the best traditions of Manchester United's past by developing policies which encourage youth participation in terms of both playing and supporting.

FC United of Manchester will be formed as a member-owned, democratic, and non-profit making entity on the Industrial and Provident Society company model. The EGM will focus on the election of a board of directors by the members, and the direction of the club over the coming season.

We have ambitious and long term plans. Above all we want to be seen as a good example of how a club can be run in the interests of its members and be of benefit to its local communities. However, we are a new club and will require patience in order to reach our goals. With the help of all our members and supporters we are confident we can achieve them.

Seven core principles of how the club will operate are set out below, and once agreed by the membership, will be protected by all elected Board members:

1.The Board will be democratically elected by its members.

2.Decisions taken by the membership will be decided on a one member, one vote basis.

3.The club will develop strong links with the local community and strive to be accessible to all, discriminating against none.

4.The club will endeavour to make admission prices as affordable as possible, to as wide a constituency as possible.

5.The club will encourage young, local participation - playing and supporting - whenever possible.

6.The Board will strive wherever possible to avoid outright commercialism.

7.The club will remain a non-profit organisation.

I consider that line to be condecending. However, I will overlook it.

culminating in the club's takeover by Malcolm Glazer
It appears to me that part of the statement is one that is used by opponents of the club to demean the status of the club.

This is why a some people will still consider a vast majority of the club's supporters to be bandwagon jumpers.

Had that particular section been omitted from the statement, it would have made a difference to a section of football fans.

Personally, I have no opinion on the club as I have never seen them and this is my first interaction with anyone who has a link with the club.

Of course, my opinion has been coloured by the first aggressive response I saw but I will endeavour to keep that apart from any debate.

Of course Glazer had a big part to play in the creation of the club.

The first time FC United was mooted was during the battle over the BskyB take over in the 90's.

With the Glazer take over the idea grew again, i think the reasons for people leaving are the inflated pricing, the club becoming a brand, corporates being more important than the local communities and fans becoming consumers.

The purchase of the club by a man with no interest in the sport or its fans, by means of a heavily leveraged offer was the last straw for many of us. We had arrived at a point where we had to draw a line in the sand a say enough is enough.

Football should not be about suits and business men, football has a proud tradition of being a working mans game, well that tradition is in serious danger and not just at Manchester United.

I've read this week that Pies at arsenal are £4 and at chelsea £6, this on top of a ticket price of £40 upwards.

The money earnt at the top of the game is all being syphoned off by businessmen and not invested back into the local communities that have supported those clubs for decades, those people that have got clubs through desolute times are now forgotten in the never ending chase of the dollar.

FCUoM has been created to provide football both playing and spectating for the less fortunate and for the general benefit of the local communities of Manchester.

Ticket Prices are £7 adults and £2 under 18's, with i think it is 4 games now under 18's free.

We have had a students go free day an idea i believe came from a student member of the club to embrace the students of manchester.

This coming saturday we welcome schools and ethnic origin people to the game for the People United day, a day meant as a stand against far right racism.
info on people united day can be found here http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/story.php?story_id=619

FC United is about communities, familes children and being able to enjoy football standing with friends.
