I'm having a crack in Scotland at the moment, probably a first for me.

The chairman in his wisdom is restricting me to scouting Scotland (I suspect Frank paid him a visit), which is fine as Arbroath are a small club, and not exactly close to England.

Anyway after my scouts have found the 5 or so Scottish players who are out of contract or interested in signing for me it all gets a bit tough to find new players.

Yet my rivals seem to be signing English players left right and centre. Obviously those AI teams have more adventurous chairmen than I.

So I'm wondering... are we still stuck with the cheating old AI who finds it much easier to sign players that has plagued us in every previous CM /FM game or am I just imagining things?

No you are not imagining things, I am gettig the same thing. Although for me it is mainly out of contract players who are being snapped up. On another point my 2 scouts have found a grand total of 18 players. All of whom cost waaay too much for me to but them. Even the grays in my reserves/U-19's dont want to sign for me.

I get the same impression. Players are hard to find and expensive to sign, whereas the AI signs players as of day 1.

I don't know if this old problem still exists because I haven't been able to sign enough players yet: in FM06 players will play for anyone for any type of money. Except for you, because your rep is too low and you don't offer enough. They'd rather earn half and play for Scheißendreck Spvgg, one division below you, than sign for you. Biatches

Yep, AI teams in the Conf S buying players from Scotland, Ireland and N. Ireland when I can only scout England/Wales.

More annoying is that when I sent my scout out to look for freebies in July (you know, the 'Great Clearout') he came back with a bunch of players deemed too **** even for Conference N/S teams. Not quite what I had in mind, mister.

I've found the same problem in the Conference South. The other thing that crossed my mind was that while managing Bath was that it seemed odd that I was only able to scout England when Wales is actually closer than vast swathes of England!

Don't forget the effect of the Severn bridge toll on your budget!

Re: the AI signing players quicker and from further afield than you - they've been in their jobs longer and have had more time to send their scouts out looking - to the extent that it might well be within their remits to look beyond Scotland (or wherever), just as, in time, you will also be allowed to do.

In my Welsh Premier save, I was allowed to scout England after just two months.

It isn't much at the moment I'm so busy with work and other stuff that I just haven't had any quality time to spend on it.

Considering the amount of bugs I'm reading about, perhaps that's not a bad thing for now...
