Hi all.

Decided to take up the challenege of managing a lower league team. I have seen the forum rules and hope you will weclome me with open arms

I've always been the one to manage the bigger teams, the lowest i have gone is hull when they was in div 3, but have got really bored of this when i realised people just generally sign the same players as every body else.

i have gone scarborough on fm07, still in preseason but have got really into it. Have spent vast time looking over the free transfares for anyone who could make a slight differance to my team and also enjoying trying to come up with a good tactic. Just winning a game at this level is like a mini achivmeant and its all very rewarding.

Just intrested season you guys are on and how high you have managed to get your teams and best achivmeant so far, or would that be considerd bragging.

Now how were you sorting through those free agents? Sending your scouts out to look them over I hope?

well i am looking through as i play but with people not allowed to brag is hard to know how people have done.

As for the freebees i look at the players history, what team they played for, at what level, how many games. Then i am offering them trails. Then signing them based on what and thnik and my staff.

Can you tell me if am doing something wrong, i assumed that would be a natural way of signing free players.

since from what i know of football lower league managers tend to give free agents a trail be4 deciding whever to sign them or not.

I just had to restart cuase i realised my rep was on international footballer. Doh

Offering trials is a good way of looking at them yes. It might be a tad unrealistic to just filter through a list of free agents but tbf for a newbie llama, I don't think its so bad, especially if you're going through the process of trials/scouting rather than just signing them. It can be hard to find them using scouts alone in your first season.

Just try to think of what's realistic, and the resources available to a real life manager at that level, and you'll be fine.

I know its a bit unrealstic just having a list of free agents and going through them, but with no way to scout them and since they dont get offerd to your club.

I have tryed to keep it realistic i've only signed 2 players from the free agent list and both of them i had on trail first.

A few qestions,

do you guys just not sign free agents?

And the scouting part. I know your only supposed to sign players you scout first, but do you only sign them if your scout rates them.

And sorry if some of the stuff i say doesnt make sence at times , and my spelling is bad.
I'm dislesic (had to look that up better be right) i read through my posts and try hard at my spelling and grammer but sometimes i just miss odvious stuff my brain doesnt take in.

TBH with 07 I can't really comment as I only had one scout that found no one in months. Then he got poached and no one else would reply to my adverts.

I am now happily back playing my Dorchester save in FM06 :thup:

In this version where it works your scouts will also find free agents and released players which you can sign

i just actually realised u can get report cards on free agents, which i think is less realistic then what i have been doing. The guy i scouted hadnt played a game for 5 years, yet he seemed to know alot about him :O

Think i will just carry on what i have been doing with regards to free agents, however i'm gonna try assigning the scout to scout a player for 3 matches and then get them on trail playing them in friendlys and getting reports that way.

would that be considerd more realistic ?

You say you've read the Forum Header and Guidelines?

Scouting's not a choice, it's mandatory. Using Player Search is shied away from, free agents can only be found by searching.

Have you ever thought LLM may just not be for you?

Certain things are required in order to post in here legitimately, perhaps you should acquaint yourself with them

Cow bloke, just a week ago you told your GPG buddies that you were starting a game with Newcastle because you were bored with Man Utd. I have a feeling that some around here (and that includes me) will be skeptical about whether you are actually committed to playing LLM properly. There is nothing that you can say to convince us time as usual, will reveal all.
