Those of you who are looking to start a long LLM game with fm2007
before the first patch is available, the following may help you avoid
some of the show stoppers:
1) Do not select N. Ireland in view mode, there is a bug involved
that causes crashes and at one point you will not be able to continue.
2) If the game constantly crashes when you click continue for the
first time after loading a saved game - Delete the Cache files from the
game's Application Data folder and restart the game. This will get you
past that error.
3) If you want to take full advantage of the new parent club feature
you'd have to retain players in countries with potential parent
clubs.
For example, I managed Scarborough and at some point during
the game the board found a parent club from Ireland first division
but since I did not retain players from Ireland all players in
that team were gray.

And point three is made a bit null and void when you realise that any team, even if they have greys, will generate new players as long as they are a feeder/parent team. So don't worry. Long term is not a problem.

How about the link between Newport County (up the Exiles! ) and Manchester United? County have been a feeder club of theirs for donkeys years. I think you just have to use common sense.

A link that is as useful in-game to Newport as a mole infestation at the ground would be.
The bit about common sense is a fair point, though. Although the way the game treats the Feeder/Parent relationship is a little unrealistic, with some thought it can be turned into something a bit more palatable.

They're still not a feeder club. Feeder clubs relationships between clubs in England are not sanctioned by the FA
*sighs*

Inside the game there is a feeder club relationship already set up between the two teams. Manchester United have a LEGITIMATE deal with Newport County whereby they have first option on buying any players, as unlikely as it seems, who catch their eye.
This is as true in real life as it is in the game, and you can find it very easily for yourself.
