Miles does say that the other size DBs are different from 06, so I guess playing on "large" won't be that much of a handicap for LLM.

You guess correct. Large is somewhere between large and huge on FM2006. Simply run more leagues, but in less detail, if you really want to.

Large DB works pretty well for me in FM 2006, TBH.
Never had any shortage of available players.

One also hopes the non-regen DB style will mean that the size of the database will only actually affect the accuracy of the starting set-up, and that the game will progress pretty much the same afterwards regardless of the DB.
