I guess this is the right place for this kind of topic. I see a lot of examples here in the forum where people write a message and then quickly after it posts another one just to correct some typos. My proposal is this: give a 5-10 minutes time for every user to edit their post. This is enough to correct all the typos and such but still short enough to prevent people from misusing the feature (eg. changing opinion completely etc). I guess it would not be that hard to implement since I've seen it used in some other forums.
What are your opinions about this suggestion? Is it worth to implement?
I more people were like you and I it wouldnt be needed. Our typing is exemplary!
but it is annoying when you notice a mistake that you have made and cant go back to fix it.
i would say 1 minute
im sure kris said the forum software doesnt allow it, anyway the edit feature has been enabled but it was abused by some people on OTF so they disabled it and you cant allow editing only on certain boards.
Tbh, unless you misspell something so horribly or leave out certain key words which end up affecting the point of the post there's no need to post again to add commas. The best tip is just to reread your post before submiting it.

(an an appreciation of the purposeful irony kind of way)
I'd definitely like an 'edit' feature of any sort.
I suggested in the "These Forums" thread (sticky, top of page) that we use it as a "carrot / stick" item.
New users would have something to 'earn' by being productive members of the community .. (mechanism tbd) .. and established members of the community would have something that they might 'lose' temporarily - say 1-2 weeks - for, for example, being rude to a new user.
Obviously, abusive users would lose the ability to edit for the duration of their yellow card / ban.
An update would be required to the "report" button so that, instead of linking to the post in question, it also included the current text of said post - so for example if I wrote something abusive, then tried to change it in five minutes using my nifty 'edit' powers .. any of you who actually read my post could report it - and the text you saw would be included in the report to the moderators.

If you build it...they will come
This forum isn't advanced enough to implement your ideas, and I dont feel that the lack of an edit function is enough to justify "moving" the forums to new and improved boards. We should focus on improving the boards we have by encouraging more insightful threads and discouraging drivel.
