I'm Inter and I want to unload Adriano (real-life personal reasons - I'm an Inter fan and he drives me nuts) for as high a transfer fee as possible.
He's scoring in bunches and his value is about 19 million euros.
Do I:
A) simply transfer list him?
B) offer him to other clubs for 19 million?
C) drop squad status to "not needed"?
D) something else?

I can't decide and I need help.

If people actually want him, offer over 24 months, you could easily get double his value.

^ of course, that might be termed as "unfair" by more than a few.

I'd avoid transfer-listing him, as that almost never gets you his asking price, let alone more.

Maybe just offer him around and set his status to rotation or backup. "Not needed" also often lowers his marketability.

The first thing I would do is offer him to other clubs for around £25m. Hopefully this will get clubs interested and they will start bidding for him.

If it doesn't work, then your best option will be to make him unhappy and request a transfer. Offer him to clubs again and set his squad status to not needed. This should anger him, but probably not enough to ask him for a move, so keep offering him to clubs, as well as criticising his performances to the press. Eventually, he is likely to request a transfer. Accept his request and you will probably be able to get more then his value. Avoid placing him on the transfer list yourself as this will mean you are likely to get way below is value as it shows you want to get rid of him. You will probably have to play him fairly regularly though as his value may drop a fair bit if you don't.

uhhh? Transfer listing him is the way to go.
You will .not. get a lower value from his sale if you transfer list him or refuse to play him.

1) list him, make him available for loans, set to unneeded and set asking price to 0

2) when the clubs are interested in him reject all the default $0 bids and then offer him to clubs at, say, 19 million + 40million over 24 months + 50% of next sale

3) if no one bids, reduce by 3-5 million and repeat...offer to clubs again and again until he's gone.

I easily got 10-20 million over 24 months + 50% next sale from my mediocre reserves worth less than 1 million.

What?????????? Did I read that correctly?

In Adriano's case if he is wanted I would just keep playing him in rotation at least, and during the transfer window talks will heat up and soon as someone offers for him just negotiate and should be able to get good value.

but i need cash badly.

ych: your strategy is intriguing. it's mid-december now... should i start that now and continue the process through the winter, with hopes of selling in the summer? i just can't see you way moving very quickly.
