I've played FM / CM since the early 90s and have enjoyed every version and been very succesful (without chetaing!) on every version.
However the latest version baffles me. I'm managing Everton and I've been sat in the bottom half all season, my only respite was a decent UEFA Cup run which has kept me in a job.
But.... I've just reviewed all of my games one by one. Out of 46 league and cup games I have only been 'outshot' twice yet I've lost 22 games in total.
The worst examples are: a game v Birmingham at home 36 shots to their 2 and I got beat 1-0, Arsenal 3-1 defeat at home despite 22 shots, Cup defaet by Roma 6-5! despite doubling the shots they had... the list goes on.
Is there some kind of bug that makes it impossible to beat 'big teams'? I'm so frustrated I can hardly be arsed to continue playing.
I've varied my tactics, bought quality players, tried different team talks , training etc etc
hold till end of 2nd or 3rd season were big teams are actually beatable.. like man unt.. or chelse .. arsenal doesnt seem to have such godmode.. but still hard to beat
I'm struggling with this version too. My main problem is whichever team I decide to manage they hate me, immediately have poor morale and then I can't seem to get off to a good start. So far had the same problem with Liverpool, Leeds and Chesterfield?
It has always been the way in fm after 06, the opposition always have a better goals to shots ratio. Im sure its just their way of making it harder rather than making the match engine correct.
The one thing that makes me laugh is when you are playing one the bottom 3 and they pass it around like brazil and dont have a problem scoring, which they have not done during the season.
Confidence does not seem to effect the teams around the bottom of the league, they still pass it around like brazil, teams at the bottom lack confidence and dont make 33 passes in a row.
Am having exactly the same problem. Have re-started an Arsenal game having not having my contract re-newed in my first attempt.
My new game has gone attrociously and I'm currently in the relegation zone after 11 games ! I haven't done anything unusual with tactics (playing 4-4-2 with some custom tweaks) I seem to have got in a losing run that I just can't break out of.
The pre-patch version of the 06 release was the same with these forums full of people moaning about the difficulty of the game.
Imo the tactical aspects of FM have changed more drastically for this version then between the last few games. Closing down and the D-line are much more important now than they used to be.
I've spent some time in the T&T forum and from what I've read those two sliders need to be used very differently than what I've done in the past.
Well im playing as Derby without cheating or reloading, and I took them to third including a 16 game unbeaten run mid-season (albeit about 8 draws).
2008-09 season im currently top of the league, altho useless in europe.
I've def noticed that even if you have 22 shots in a game, sometimes you'll score one, where another team will have 4 shots and score 2. Even if the oppositions players are pants. Obv, this does happen in real life, look at Greece winning Euro champs. or Bolton in general.
also, noticed that 4-4-2 just wont work... its incredibly difficult to get any kind of form with that formation, despite it being the most succesful formation IRL.
Is it just me....
