so if a player becomes unhappy because "wants a new challenge" is a major concern, is there anyway for this desire to subside?
Sometimes you get a forewarning as a slight concern which you can solve by giving them a good new contract, but is there any way to stop the player from being unhappy, or will he be unrelenting in his desire to leave club?
Andres Guardado has been at arsenal for the past four years, and after i took over last year, he has been an amazing player for me, owning the left wing, with plenty of assits and goals and a flawless corner taker. He has just won every european/world award he was elligible for and all the big clubs want him. i certainly don't want to give him up (even though he's unhappy he's still superb morale and playing superb), as the only player i'd say is his current equivalent is Silva who i can't afford to buy (would cost me close to 70mil pounds).
The only way I've ever seen someone come back from that is by waiting until he demands a transfer, agreeing to list him, then price him out of range and shove him in the reserves. If you continue to have great success, there might come a time in a few months down the road where you'll notice that he's "reconsidering his decision to leave the club" or words to that effect. Then you can de-list him and start playing him again, but he'll need to play, and play lots, right away, because by this time, he's also upset that he hasn't been getting first-team.
sounds like bad news, cos Guardado is an expensive player and i'm in some financial strife, the thought of relegating him to the bench for what might be a year is not good.
Is the 'wants new challenge' something which can be beaten by bring the club to a new level of success. For instance, arsenal haven't won anything and haven't finished higher than 4th since the game started, this year i'm still in all four comps come february. If i was to take the league and cup double or even do a triple/quadruple, would that in anyway persuade him to stay on? I've got a big talented squad, and a lot of long-term stars want me to accept bids for them in the winter transfer window (Djourou, Miguel Torres, Clichy) and i'm just hoping that if i win something, they'll be pacified (should happen from my experience. But guardado looks like one who i'll just have to hang on to for as long as i can before he requests a transfer.
