What stats do i look for?

The little hints bar says the most important one is 'Influence'. But when i picked the person with the highest influence, EVERY single first team player said they belived they could be a better captain than him.

I don't think Influence is the most important at all. I usually always pick a senior player at the squad (who I still play often) who's been at the club for a long time. If you have a young squad, then usually a consistent performer does it for me, or someone with high determination.

Certianly, in addition to that thread (which I would have bumped, but is closed for age), I would add the hidden attribute "Dirtiness" as important.

I like to have a hugely influential player in each part of the pitch.

Just one 'captain' can be a weakness.

someone who has high influence and a personality of a "born leader" would certainly be a good fit.

Funnily enough, my captain is French, speaks only basic English and only has 12 influence. He was also a new signing and only 21.

He does have quite good determination and consistancy though.

All the players in my squad were happy with my choice.

They're all pretty stable characters. I hate having whiners at my club!!
