Hi i just have this question about young (15 - 18 years old) players on FM 2008, i am playing with Man Utd and I'm in July 2014 yet i haven't once through my academy produced 1 young player with a potential ability of anything greater than 153, does this mean that the youth system has now changed as these players can improve their potential or is the game trying to tell me that utd cant produce anyone good as that seems wrong!

As Sunderland I have just got a 15 year old newgen Scottish striker with a PA of 170ish and his accel and pace are both 19 and his finishing 12 when hes just 15 and hes banging goals in for fun in my U18s and I just found a very promising keeper hiding in Man U's U18s.

The system is the same. The Potential ability is fixed once assigend to a player...

Thats a bummer, though. I would think that Man Utd would get good youth players.

i just dont understand i have enclosed a picture i sold my last bunch of u-18's cos their potential was ***** so now ive been given these!:::


for some reasoni cant add a picture in but my highest PA of my u 18s is PA 157

Again, 157 is a of top Premiership standard.

Man Utd didn't win the European Cup with a team of Rooneys.

For every Giggs and Beckham there's a Nicky Butt and John O'Shea.

If you really want to bring the best young players to your club then you're going to have to set up an extensive worldwide scout network and spend some cash bringing in the most promising players you can find.

You can use external programs.

Best not to imo, it takes some of the fun and mystery from the game. I prefer to use my own judgement, see little point in playing if you know exactly how good a player could become.
