I'm at Gillingham, a club that is in debt and has no resources according to the game. That's fine I can wheel and deal, but some of the boards messages and fans expectations are totally unrealistic IMO?
Let me give you some examples....
Last season the boards short term expectations were to gain promotion from Coca Cola Lg 1. Ok so far nothing exciting despite no money. HOWEVER their LONG TERM expectations were to attain a safe mid table position in league 1. WTF? you short term aims are to be auto promoted but your long term aims are to be safe mid table? Erm....
OK I did it, went up through the play offs. Debt ridden club with a £350k transfer budget and the board expects me to....Achieve a safe mid table position (but interestingly again long term is to survive in the league??). Er hello my entire budget is less than some teams spend on one player. OK some of you will cite overambitious chairman but then why the long term ambition of just surviving?? Surely then short term should be avoid relegation/ steer clear etc?
Now on to the fans...
I have been on the end of 2 4-0 drubbings and 1 3-0 drubbing all of which according to the board will live on long and bitterly in the fans memories etc. 'Ok sounds about right. What's yer problem?' you say....WELL..... They were all in cup competitions against Premier League clubs away from home! Baring in mind what I said about debt ridden club in league 1 it was in fact very frustrating to get these messages. The first 4-0 was against Arsenal who were the league leaders at the time, next was Fulham 3-0 and finally Everton 4-0. OK fair enough no fan likes to lose and certainly not by 4 goals but to say fans extremely disappointed and will live on long in their memories seems HIGHLY unrealistic. Clubs at that level are just glad for the income generated and whilst it would be nice to beat Arsenal certainly dont expect it at a debt ridden club?
Anyway glad I got that off my chest

Board and fan interaction poor and unrealistic? Post #2
I agree with you completely, I am playing as Gateshead in the Blue Square North and I faced my parent club Newcastle in a friendly and lost 4-0 ok I expect them to be disappointed, but saying it will live long in their memories...no way. And then in November I faced Cheltenham in the FA Cup 1st round and lost 5-0 cause I played my reserves team sacrificing the victory for a shot at the Sentanta Sheild match two days later at Nuneaton, my problem in November is an excessive schedule so I had to give something up sooner or later. Well my fans were bitterly disappointed and it will live on in memory. Come on its not right having that in the game, my fans would be glad it wasn't more goals, and they should be celebrating our 15gmes unbeaten before that game against our own league.

Playing as Man Utd, i can win the league and FA cup, but they get their knickers in a twist because i lose in the league cup 3rd round. Same with the fans, you buy a youngster and they think he should perform straighaway or theyre a bad signing.
