It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default How do you determine your teams strength and how it should play?

I'm yet to get this game going altho I've read several threads and spent hours trying almost ev'thing.

It seems that many people say "Im playing like this, 'cos my team has to play from midfield" or whatever.

Also, Cleon said s'thing about finding out the teams strength and play from that, so my question is simple:
How do you determine that? What do you look for?

Detailed replies from "the experts" on this forum will be most welcome!

i am no expert. if you have a fast moblie squad play attacking flowing football. if you only have a couple of classy players and slow strong strikers play direct. old slow defence equals deep d-line, pacey defenders with high postioning stats will play well with a high d-line and offside trap. if your constantly underdogs try playing narrow , if your high-flying, play wider.

Thx, I appreciate your reply altho, like me, your no expert

Anyway, as metioned above, I remember having seen people like Cleon and Rashidi saying that determining your teams strength is essential so thats why I'm puzzled there are no threads about it. So Im still eagerly anticipating thorough replies form the experts on this forum.

I think formation is mostly derived from a teams strengths, and then one would set inructions due to individual player strengths. ssessing your team's strengths as a whole probably comes from experience - playing half a season and seeing which styles of play do better than others.

Regarding formation, a team like Milan has lots of good central midfielders but no wingers so they play a very narrow diamond. Same goes for Chelsea, though they can obviously swap. Charlton and Everton this season only really had one decent striker each and so played 4-5-1 when they could.

However with some teams it is very obvious what their strength is. Arsenal have great passers, Valencia great wingers, Barca great flair. Just have a look at the stats which seem to be most prevelant in certain area and a style to play.

Eriksen at Man City seems to be a good example. He seems to be building a team based around two strong, aerial strikers (Bianchi and Zigic if he gets him) and good wingers giving them crosses (Petrov and someone else will probably come in).

Could this guy isuntribes be warned, banned or whatever moderators here can do? He's been posting the same spam in several other threads.
