After many more games I have been tweaking my tactics in a few areas and am now able to release V2 of my tactics set. There are home and away tactics and also an alternative away tactic, with all of these having a wet version for those drenched pitch matches. I have also included my 'kill game' tactic.
I only use one formation at home as I don't think anything needs altering at home games.
The 'home wet' tactic has given me very good results in wet matches, so I've continued to use it in this 2nd version. Take note that it's only effectively applied when the pitch is wet, not just the weather, because sometimes the pitch will stay quite dry even if it's raining.
The 'away' tactic is a more defensive and counter attacking approach than the home tactic. This should be used in most away games.
The 'away attacking' may be more effective in games where you are expected to win easily because the home team may not be as offensive against you.
Again, there are wet versions of both these away tactics for when the pitch is wet (which you can see if the pitch colour is a darker green).
The 'kill game' tactic is useful for the latter stages of a game where you are winning by one or two goals and want to concentrate almost completely on defence. I usually apply it in the last 20 minutes of games where I'm leading by a goal and/or when the opposition change to the 4-2-4 formation.
These tactics have been designed around a good team, so if you are a poor team relative to the opposition then you may get better results if you play a more defensive tactic than usual. Examples:
1. You're at home to a good team. I'd consider using the 'away' tactic if you're finding that the opposition are on top, but the 'home' tactic could still work well if the opposition aren't dominating.
2. You're away to a good team. If the 'away' tactic isn't working too well, then switching to the 'away wet' tactic may suit you better. It has higher tempo and passing so you might be able to be quicker on the counter attack and create more chances. If the game is already wet, then push tempo and team passing up to 15.
Other notes
This tactic uses a target man to good effect. You need to select a striker who is good in the air to be your target man and if he's not got much pace then it may be better to change the supply to 'to head'.
If you don't have a striker who can be effective in the air, then it is probably best to untick the target man box altogether, but you can try 'to feet' or 'run onto the ball' if you wish. 'to feet' supply may be better at home and 'run onto ball' may be better for away games, but I strongly advise you to use a big man upfront as will score lots of headers and provide many flick-ons for the other striker and the wingers. Also, if you don't use a big striker as target man then take off the full backs' instructions to cross to the target man.
The target man should be the right of the two strikers and I try to use a quick striker along side him.
Of the two centre midfielders, the right MC is the MCd and the left MC is the MCa.
Opposition Instructions
Here's my list of the opposition instructions I always use, I find them to help a lot:
GK and DCs - Close down often
Wingers - Close down often. Hard tackling. Show onto weaker foot if their weaker foot is 'reasonable' or worse.
Strikers - Tight marking always.
Two in-game tweaks you may find helpful:
1. If the opposition play 3 centre midfielders (including any DMs or AMCs) then i find that focusing passing down the flanks means your centre midfielders won't get caught out too much.
2. If the opposition have a quick striker playing and they are playing a quick tempo and direct passing, then I have found it more effective to lower the d-line to 6 and push the 4 defenders' CD up two notches each.
Ive never used it, but it absolutely rocks, this one is for you, yes you, just click the link at the top and you could be winning the EPL for sure, ja!
I am haing difficulty downloading these tactics. I have downloaded the file nd changed its file path to .tac When i go to import the file is showing but it will not import. Any ideas?
I'll definitely give it a go then as it seemsto work well for lots of others.
I have been working on a defensive corner routine of my own. Tried it a little and it seemed to work well, just that i wanted to try something new so that poor teams don't grab a corner and score from it, like with free kicks.
