| i'd guess that you had too many long shots. if your central midfielders don't have a high long shot rating then put long shots down to mixed or rare. cambiasso has only got 13 for long shots, but from the MCd position he has scored a couple of 30 yard beauties lately.
also, the MCd is on often, so that may be the case as it's usual that the MCd will be worse at long shots than the MCa and is also likely to be further out when shooting. Quote:
Gra, I just want to say thanks.
Started using it halfway through my second season as villa and things are looking brighter everyday. I was starting to slump after falling from 2nd in the PRM to 4th in a mere two weeks. Even gago was threatening to leave the club but with our recent success he has decided to stay. Gra kept Gago at Villa!
| cheers, keep updating on how it goes

Tried this out with my Blackburn side in 2010. I have a decent side, probably not as strong as Arsenal or Chelsea on paper as a lot of my players are young.
So far the tactic has been very good although I have conceded a couple of late goals in away games to average sides to force a draw.
I am finding sometimes that I am not puting teams away when I dominate, but overall I am happy.
I am 5 points adrift of 1st (Aresnal) with 2 games in hand although I lost to Aresnal 3-0 away in my last match. This was my first loss with the tactic after about 12 games.
I am not too upset though as the goals wern't really defensive lapses from my boys. The goals were - 2 Fabregas beauties. One was from 45 yards, the other was from 40. The third goal was a free kick from the edge of the area so not too much to worry about although I have been conceeding a few free kick goals...
Cheers though Crazy I am really enjoying your tactic.

have you been implementing the kill game tactic in the last 20 mins or when the opposition change to 4-2-4? hopefully that should stop some of those late goals.
if there's someone on the opposition who's good at long shots then you may find that often closing down and/or hard tackling helps.
as for free kicks, then maybe you need a better keeper? the same could be a reason for the long shots.

Actually what are Opposition Instructions use for?
Close down the opposition GK and DC often? Sounds wierd to me.

They're just there to give your players more instructions.
i like to close down to GK and DC so that i can capitalize on any mistakes made. doesn't happen often but it pays off every now and then.
wingers getting crosses in are always hard to deal with, so making a big effort to stop this helps with the CD, hard tackling. also if they can get a cross in then showing onto a weaker foot will mean the cross probably won't be as good.
as for tight marking STs, i started only doing it for big STs so my defenders were always there to win headers. the same should be for technical STs too so they dont have much room to work their magic. as for quick STs, i find it works well anyway, but it helps for your defenders to have some pace.

if you're playing as a lower league team, then it may be more effective to play faster and more direct. i've not played in the lower leagues myself, but a mate told me that it's not a good idea to play a possession/passing game, although his team wasn't great so maybe it could work.

Team-
Man Utd 1st March 2008.
First team is the same as normal with Ribery on the wing instead of Giggs and Ronaldo on the left.
In my first season I won the Premiership and now I hardly win a game. In my first season I did not touch the Tatics tab or anything.
Now I have changed the following-
Changed training schedules to the ones that Cleo mentioned in his Sheiffield United thread.
Downloaded and used- Crazy's 4-2-2-2 Version II tatics.
Thats about it, so far I have won 10, drawn 7 and lost 10.
What is going on? Is it a bug? I cant understand how I am losing so bad after 1 season.
Otherwise I have won the League Cup! And I am doing well in all the Cup Leauges.
Is it scripted?
Before a match, when they say for example "Owen will be a threat, or Gerrard will be a threat" How do I act to this?
How do I mark these players?

if you read the notes that i added on the end of the first post then that may help you, especially the target man part.
if owen could be a threat, then tight mark him which i do anyway as i tight mark all opposition strikers.
if gerrard could be a threat, then close down often and perhaps try hard tackling on him.

Results for first half year using this tactic:
Took an extremely young Aston Villa team to the first knockout round of the ECC( was bounced by R. Madrid), Suprising loss in the FA cup final to blackburn (Injuries Galore) and Finished third in the PRM (9 points behind Chelsea). Overall very good am hoping to make a run at the PRM this year.
