Depends on your tactic. If you would like much possession and a high defensive line, let your forwards and 2-3 midfielders have high closing down and your defenders a little lower (5 for stoppers, 8 for side backs, 10 for keeper to let him sweep behind your defence). If you play counter attacking let your forwards and midfielders have low closing down to drop down and defend on your own half, and let your defence have a little higher closing down, and play with a deep defensive line. The difference is that with possession minded football you want to defend high on the pitch, and win back the ball as soon as possible. With counter attacking you defend deeper and let your opponent have the ball, while at least one fast striker is ready for the break. With possession football I would attack on the wings, with quick, short passes. With counter attacking I would attack through the middle with long passes to my superpacy striker.
