Hi everyone - quality forum guys

I'm playing as Chelsea (have just started by second season) and have largely gone with a youth policy in the transfer market so far.

Having finished 2nd in the league though (disastrous first 10 games in FM08!) I need to make a purchase that will make a real difference now - I'm thinking in the AMR or maybe AML positions (I play a kind of 4-1-2-2-1). But the players I looked to buy just aren't available for the money i have - £45m! I've looked at Silva, Joaquin, Messi, quaresma...etc etc. Ridiculous! Even Alves (I know a RB) will cost me £35m plus. Not paying that...

Any ideas guys? Needs to be a player who is going to be an immediate improvement on SWP / J Cole in that position. Shame, but seems SI haven't corrected the annoying situation where to buy good players is well over the odds and no-one will bid for any of your players...

these are some great world class and affordable players

Have a look at Angel Di Maria from AML. He's a quality player and should be available for less than 10M. Even Freddy Adu is worth a try. Matias Fernandez is just a class player. He's essentially an AMC but plays just as good at AML as well. Thats where I play him and he's been brilliant. You also have Gourcuff who can play well as AMR. He might be expensive though depending on what he's done the whole season at Milan. Luka Modric might not be an improvement on what you have but is a darned good option to fall back on anywhere across the midfield. Jefferson Farfan is worth a look for the left. See if Dos Santos will come to you. If he does then nothing like it for your right. And he should be available for around 20M (release clause). Worth that much imo. Mind, all these are the cheaper options but still quality and young.

When looking to buy Leandro Lima (5.5million)
from Porto they want around 19million (when i had 20.5mill in my banks)
after buying a player, i have 13mill left...
and then i tried lima again
porto wants 11.5mill for him now...

quaresma should be available for under 20 mil and is high quality on both wings, also mario santana from fiorentina is class for 14 mil? one of the best rw in the game
