I am about 90% of the way through my first season with my new Basingstoke game. The media prediction said 21st my scout has been absolutely useless(At least that is realistic ). So I am playing essentially with the team I was given. We can be completely dominated in games and somehow seem to sneak a win or a draw. Yes I know that happens but it is happening way too much. Realistically comparing my team to the teams that we play against week after week we are certainly among the weakest team in the Conference South but with 6 games to go I am in second place with a very good chance of winning the title.
Another thing I haven’t bought or sold any players I didn’t have a decent cup run and 90% of the way through the season I have more money than I started the season with that just doesn’t seem right in the lower leagues. What ever happened needing a good cup run or needing to sell you best player to keep the clubs finances afloat.
Now I know that most of you have played a few more seasons than me so I'm curious to know what your impressions of the difficulty of the game is.
Funny enough I started my original game with Basingstoke (with Northern Ireland in view only mode) and at the time of the crash I had 1 win 5 draws and 5 defeats in the league. I obviously started again excluding NI and miraculously found winning ways. Maybe I am just having a lucky season.
This is my first proper try (I've ****ed about with other teams before starting over properly with this one).
Just finished my first season with Kappellen in Belgium: predicted 3rd, finished 3rd (but didn't get a play off spot because of a combination of the Belgian league system and the team who finished second not playing the percentages )
Done a season and a half with Newport County. Comfortably exceeded the expectation of relegation in the first season (finished 8th, somehow) and look to do the same again this season - although with 10 points separating 13th from 1st, that's not saying much.
To be honest, though, I haven't got the faintest idea whether anything I do makes a difference. I can see how my tactics work - when they do and we play well - but it doesn't happen very often and there's no real indication why. It's a bit baffling, so I'm starting another save to see if anything changes.
Constantly outperforming the predicted pretty much every season in lower divisions, but is certainly closer to predicted the higher up the leagues i've got, where a few signings don't have such a great effect on overall squad quality.
