Simple. If your budget allows you to pay off the contract of other staff, then filtering out non-employed staff is not a necessity.

Only applying the filter if your club won't let you pay compensation for staff is the way to go.

There was no mention in the original post as to whether he could pay compensation.

It's not a difficult concept. You work on the basis that if you need a scout/coach/whatever you place an advert for the position. Interested candidates will apply (BTW the job centre is not only open for people who already have a job!) You appoint one of these candidates.

Only if this approach fails should you use the only workaroud available to you in the game, which is to trawl a list of unemployed people.

In previous FMs, the job centre was pants meaning you always had to trawl the lists. In 07 it seems to work quite well.

I accept what everyone has said and see the reasoning behind it, but I seem to find coaches of a better quality who seem to be unemployed for some reason.

Besides I'm sure the chairman would be happy without shelling out on what is effectively a transfer fee!

It's not very realistic to take that approach. It may be an option in the game but in reality you won't be able to trawl through lists of unemployed scouts.

If the Job centre gets no reply, I go to my nearest side an steal one with either,

1. The right Nationality (Norn Iron)
or
2. An amusing / most amusing name.

I only look at the stats to ensure they speak english.

Of course it's advantageous - that is like saying that the most realistic thing a club could do is not employ Ian Dowie because he is out of work and to make it realistic and employ a manager who is in employment under contract. I thought the reason why SI made the game was to also consider the financial side of the game as well.

In addition it is important to note that most of these coaches are in their early 30's with no previous coaching experience which is realistic IMO. I like it to be as real as possible otherwise it can become ridiculous, but how more realistic can you get than that?
