That may be true, but there are rules (of thumb?) about posting updates in this forum. One of them encompasses the value of relative brevity.

Did the upturn in form "happen" to be after a visit to the T&T forum you seem to post in?

Apart from the length and cheating and not using scouts good.

What mkus said really. I've not been here a loooong time but it's clear to me the vast majority of regular posters here don't like long updates (me included). Maybe there's a silent majority that love them...

What Mavis said, apart from the "good" bit.

What people like or love is irrelevant. The Rules, guidelines etc thread quite clearly states, under "Updates":

Quote:
2) Updates should take the form of a short description of how your Team is doing. Game summaries should be avoided, but may be posted for Cup Finals, Playoff games and important games which have a direct bearing on your Team. eg, relegation deciders.

Fair cop. I was really referring to how those guidelines were arrived at. ie. Because long "stories" are not wanted they shan't be allowed.

And my sign off sentence was intended to be sarcastic.

The fact that his thread in TT&T seems to be sharing his tactic, I'd say this fellow is definitely not LLM.

I couldn't be arsed to read a word of the "update" but it can't be of interest to me once I see his recent posting.

The need for rules are essential on these boards - otherwise all hell can break loose and I fully endorse those that provide the framework for making the forum function properly.

However, wouldn't it just be more simpler to say that if you don't want to read a detailed account (after all the person has taken up a lot of their time to write their story) then you simply do not read it?

After all, there are such things as freedom of speech and that really should not be taken away forum by restricting this freedom.

Ah ye gods! Don't be so quick to maul me guys!

I know I've made a couple of posts in the T&T form; I like to test other people's tactics, etc, etc, but THIS game in THIS update thread was done before I even touched the T&T forum. And for what it's worth, in THIS game I use my own tactics. It's true that I have another game running which is more of an experimental one, where I actively use and test things posted in T&T but not in THIS game. No sir. Pure Ian-developed tactics here.

Apologies for those of you who can't be bothered to read my work. I certainly have no plans to shorten what I'm writing in future seasons (although I've had a break from this game, I finished the 3rd season several weeks ago but am planning to start the fourth season soon (tonight perhaps?)). For me, the most enjoyable part of other people's update threads are reading about the ups and downs they experienced across a particular season, which is why I tried to make mine as enjoyable as possible in that respect, but if updates as detailed as mine are against the rules here, by all means lock this thread and throw away the key. I'll go quietly.

I'm sorry I didn't think to use my scouts, I really should employ them more, and will bare what you have said in mind for future seasons and try to actively use scouts.

On a final note, I forgot to mention that the team which got promoted from the playoffs in the 2008/2009 season were Kettering. I wrote out the season summary before the playoffs were played and left a space to fill out the playoff-winner, but forgot to check over my thread when I copy, pasted and posted it yesterday.

Thanks for all the support. I'm hoping for a decent season with Burton - a playoff spot would be nice this year
