How did you sign the fella that Del Boy brought over in the last Only Fools And Horses?

Three promotions in three seasons? With East Stirlingshire? Hardly LLM playstyle. Come back when you've stopped reading GPG/TT.

More seriously, quite a good run. KUTGBeatingGretnaAtTheirOwnGame.

I'd be curious of two things.

1) I know you tend towards a very large staff. I wonder if the feat could be repeated with a board-recommended staff size.

2) Aquaplaning - I know we've bantered back & forth, as I've always doubted its existence. Have you considered creating a copy of your save game early in a winning aquaplane run, continue winning with your original save game, and then try playing all reserves with your branched game? To make this LLM-compliant, please note I'm suggesting the branched game be kept only for the aquaplane experiment, and the original game would be played first.

Also, can we talk you into posting screenies of the aquaplaning?

How would one know if it was going to be an aquaplaning run early in? One would only come to that conclusion after a number of results, I imagine.

I'm in the 'sceptical that it's a real phenomenon rather than a term used to describe a naturally occuring thing' camp, as I haven't particularly noticed this ever happening to me without a (not always obvious) cause and without being able to do something about it, but I see no need for screenies as I don't doubt Ian's word for a moment that what is happening to him is very real.

Like the superkeepers thing, aquaplaning is something which SI vehemently deny happens, despite many people's testament to the opposite, and is very difficult to prove or replicate. Just take the man at his word and if you desperately want to hold on to your notion that it isn't a bug of some kind then put it down to 'unknown other factors'. Or something. If Ian and others choose to call this 'aquaplaning' then let them, whatever the 'real' reason might be.

I think you misunderstand my intentions. Because I've never seen it, I'm naturally skeptical. After all, a isn't a bizarre span of 6 games over the course of about 150-200 might be expected. But I've also learned that FM07 is buggy, and this could be a very real bug. And pictures are always more convincing.

Since Ian was posting screenies of tables earlier, I was just hoping he had some screenies of aquaplaning. At least then I'd know exactly what he's talking about.

As for the staff thing... I feel I moved up the Scottish league unrealistically with Elgin City in the past. Part of it was FM06 cash, but I always felt my players overperformed. I had the exact same feelings Ian did where he's tempted to look up stats in some scouting program to see if he miraculously signed superstars. The common thread in our two games? Both were Scottish sides with big staff.

1) I know you tend towards a very large staff. I wonder if the feat could be repeated with a board-recommended staff size.

I don't know if that'd be the case, and I shan't be finding out either. My own team, Haddington, have an entourage of 6 including Manager and coaches, plus 2 players who have coaching qualifications, one of whom is back from a 2 year stint coaching in the YooEss. They have 3 full time/part time (it's difficult in the Juniors to differentiate) scouts so I find now/have always found that imposed restrictions are unrealistic.

Put it this way...they can recommend what they want, if they allow me to sign them then hell mend them.

This applies to players also.

2) Aquaplaning - I know we've bantered back & forth, as I've always doubted its existence. In the past I've played the aquaplane through, I've saved the game and gone back and replayed the games, I've changed formations, tactics, players, virtually everything available, and I can safely say that it makes no difference. When you're on an aquaplane you're in freefall as long as the game wants it.

It can be initiated by a result, like the victory over Rangers, or it can be because of a certain time of the year, not always Christmas-time as is commonly thought.

In FM2006 I could accurately predict results, I could accurately predict when an aquaplane was starting, and in FM2007 the same catalysts seem to apply.

The next time it happens I'll take some grabs and link them, I could show you results from this save but they could just be a bad string of results for all you'd know.

It exists, believe me

Season 5 - 2010/11

Another 6th place finish. I hate the SPL for this stupid split for the final 5 games, the final positions mean nothing.

5th placed Ross County and us in 6th should actually have finished in 7th and 8th according to points, but hey...I've got the Inter-Toto to look forward to next season

P: 38, W: 14, D: 6, L: 18, biggest win 6-0, biggest loss 4-0

Average attendance 10152.
