For the first time, Bedford Town are playable in FM. Since I was born and bred in Bedford (I don't live there anymore, thank god), I've been looking forward to this opportunity for a long time.
2006/07 - Bedford Town, Conference South
After three games, we were sat in 2nd place and I was very pleased with myself. This proved to be a false dawn, however, and the bottom soon fell out of our season. We'd dropped to the relegation zone by October, and could not escape. I signed several players, who were just as crap as the guys I had to start with. I tried about six different goalkeepers, all of them hopeless. The official confirmation of relegation came three games before the end of the season.

My long-held dreams of managing Bedford to glory were dashed in a single season.
2007/08 - Gateshead, Conference North
A newly-promoted team decided to give me a chance, and I grabbed it with both hands. Our first month gave exactly the same record as my first month with Bedford, but this time we moved the right way up the table. Nudging the playoff spots in November, we slipped down to 11th after the traditional dodgy winter months, but a late season charge pushed us into the playoff spots in the final table.

We lost to Nuneaton in the semi final, but there was hope for next year.
2008/09 - Gateshead, Conference North
Five new first-teamers were signed up over the summer break, and the difference showed immediately. We were top of the table at the end of August, and were never really dislodged. We had another winter wobble, but the teams below us made no attempt to take advantage, dropping points left, right and centre. We won the league on the back of a rock-solid defence, but our lack of goals up front was a bit of a worry. Promotion to the Conference!
