I have been in charge of my conference north team for 11 games now and there have been 3 or 4 shocking own goals...
The 2 i remember was...
1) Their defender does a 20 yard tap back to the keeper only for the ball to roll straight through the keeper into the back of the net.
2) The second on was a 40 yard punt to the keeper, the pass was directly to him yet the keeper just seemed to walk around the ball.
Has anyone else came across this? With my short stint as the Man United manager i haven't faced this. Is this a bug or the Lower League way of winning?
It's probably because crap players play in the lower leagues. With FM06 I have just scrambled up to League Two after 6 seasons early in the season I benefited from own goals in 3 consecutive matches.
For 1 draw and 2 losses
So it's not really an '07 issue, IMO, and nor is it a problem.
The only slight problem with the manager games is you always seem to get the "well I remember it happening in 1986" type arguments so it is put into the game to happen monthly!!

It is probably realisitic for a lot of own goals to be scored in the Lower Leagues because of the lack of quality the players have compared to Championship/Premier League type of players.
This has happened to me twice and both of the own goals were in the space of 5 minutes! They scored after my defender passed it back to my keeper and then the same happened the other end in my favour a few minutes later. I was already 3-0 before they scored their goal, so it was OK.
My goalkeeper conceded a goal where he ran with the ball out of the box, chickend out, lost the ball, and the opposing striker scored from some 25-35 yards on an empty net. Now, this all would have been fine if he had not conceded the exact same goal the very next match, and another match a few weeks later. Not even the crappiest goalkeepers aren't that stupid not to learn from their mistakes, nor do they make the exact same error three times in 5 games.
