Not quite sure how that works.
"Listen, son, you're not good enough to get a game here yet. I want you to go to our friends at Crap FC and not get a game there instead."

| No, parent clubs get access to their feeder clubs' scouting knowledge but it doesn't go the other way.
Hypothetically, even if it did, it wouldn't remove the requirement for your scouts to actually find a player and then tell you if he's any good. And when your board imposes strict limits on where your scout can go, Chelsea's knowledge of African players isn't of much use to you when you're unable to send a Scout past Southampton.

| I have been mulling over this exact same point this weekend. As yet I have reached no conclusion. I await the opinion of the more seasoned veterans with interest. </BLOCKQUOTE>
the simple answer to this is that the player counts as one of your loan signings and will waste the opportunity to sign someone needed.
So yes scouting is definately needed as at lower level football loans are so important.

For him to come in here and (wrongly) tell another new contributor what we're about, and what's acceptable, isn't really discussion. There are plenty of things that we can discuss, and with the start of every new version of a game, it brings in new posters who unfortunately mislead other new posters.
They just don't seem to get it when you say it to them without brutality.
| I have read and adhered to the LLM guidelines, although the situation regarding feeder clubs offering players had not been discussed.
If you read my initial post I said, " I think it's unnecessary to scout him"
I said I think, not we think. Therefore stating this was my opinion |

In my opinion, no club would ever sign a player they have never scouted, not even in a feeder relationship. It would be completely unrealistic.

I agree with Ollie.
It would be unrealistic for a manager to accept a player just because another manager said he was decent enough to be loaned out.
Where he may not send a scout to see him in the purest sense of the word he'd definitely have him watched, whether playing for the parent club or in a game for the feeder, before signing him as a loanee.

Ian,
You have nailed it.
Big club offers a player on loan.
You take him on a weeks trial and organise a friendly to assess him.
You then make the decision whether to take him on loan or not.
As this isn't modelled that way in the feeder club module, I would suggest its scouting all the way.

To respond to Mkus: The man played for Lokeren, but he didn't play a single minute for them that season because of an injury.
He planned to retire at the end of the season, so if he wouldn't have joined Geel, his career would have ended before the play-off's.
I hope this makes it clear for you.
Another thing: this happened at the end of the 04-05 season and Geel are in the third division now. |
