I'm now in my third season with Harrogate. I sneaked promotion through the playoffs in my second season thanks to a very good loan signing (sorry about that: it was before I read the threads on feeder clubs and I was thinking of the LLM ethos of playing the game as SI made it). Well, in my second season, I really struggled, although I kept my pride and didn't use my feeder club status.
I got really frustrated though - I kept applying for jobs and getting nowhere, the few players my scouts did find were either total carp or had no intention of visiting one of North Yorkshire's finest spa towns and I didn't have any players I really rated and wanted to see develop. This was as close as I've come to giving up a save through crapness... it was so frustrating I just couldn't seem to move the game forward. Relegation was no surprise to anyone.
Thankfully I've rekindled my enthusiasm and have some teenage players coming through and I'm interested to see how they develop in coming seasons... I think that's the thing I like best (that and long unbeaten runs ).
However, I'm interested to know what you guys do to keep your enthusiasm going, even when you can't find any decent players, you on a record breaking losing streak and you can't get another job even if you sell your daughter to the chairman for a cup of Bovril an a Balti Pie?
Well apart from all the recommendations for curing constipation and impotence, the main thing that keeps me going is the thought that soon I might have a pc that is capable of running FM2007, rather than one which can only manage CM01/02.

If you haven't tried it yet, maybe you should.
With the way you can alter the detail level, it's considerably quicker than FM06.
