Default No 'quays for the 'gate.

I Never thought I would get chance to write this up, as I was having far too much fun playing the game.

Unfortunately my game crashed in 2016.

I Started the game Unemployed, as a 25 Year Old, former Sunday League player.

Harrogate Town, Media Prediction: 6th Conference North

After 7 games and only 1 win, the team tipped for an outside chance of promotion, were langiushing in 21st place of the Conference North. The board decided it was time for a new manager, and that new manager was me.

I was happy with the squad, but we were missing a goal-getter, so my only signing for the season was the loan of the new team star player 'Mr X'.

The team won 3 of the my first 5 matches at the club and our fortunes were looking good, Mr X finished the season as top-scorer with 22 goals, and we finished 5th in the league, with a win on the last game of the seasonm, securing a play-off spot.

we were going into the play-offs as the form side, and we fancied our chances for promotion. We beat Leigh RMI in both legs (Home 2-0, Away 1-0) of the semi-finals, and Vauzhall Motors 1-0 in the final.

Conference North: 5th Place - 63 Points
FA Cup - Lost 1st Round vs Brighton
FA Trophy - Lost 2nd Round vs Altrincham

Harrogate Town (Avoid Relegation)

Thrilled with Promotion, but dissapointed at the boards decision not to turn Professional, our aim was merely to avoid relegation, I re-loaned 'Mr X' and bolstered the squad with free transfers.

Only an Excellent FA Cup run saved us from a dull season, but we were never going to beat Blackburn Rovers away from home, at least I might be given some transfer funds next season.

National Conference: 15th Place - 59 Points
FA Cup - Lost 4th Round vs Blackburn

Harrogate Town (Avoid Relegation)

Still no Professional status forthcoming, I am beginning to doubt the Chairmans Ambitious reputation. More bad news came when, 'Mr X' signed for his teams feeder club, 2 days before the transfer window (Grrrr!!) and failing to bring in another loan signing left me worrying for our season.

We only just secured our status as a National Conference club in the penultimate game of the season, I'll need to improve the squad if promotion to League Two is ever going to become a reality.

Still no Professional status, but hardly suprising this time, after such a poor season.

Massively re-shaped the squad, with 9 free transfers. With the new signings, we were playing better football, although the league results remained the same, it was the run in the FA Trophy that was causing a stir. Winning on penalties after an excellent defensive display earnt us a 0-0 draw with Kettering, despite us missing our first and last spot kicks, it was our goalkeeper who became the hero with 3 excellent saves.

Firmly believing that our cup success would convince the board to turn Professional, we remained 1 of only 3 clubs that were still Part-Timers. I made the decision that I had taken the club as far as I could, and that I would not be renewing my contract after this season.

I didn't buy anyone this season, we managed a respectable 14th place despite only gaining the same number of points as the previous campaign. Dissapointing results in the cups meant that I was leaving Harrogate Town with a whimper, rather than the bang that I desired.

Torquay United (Win Conference South)

Following 2 Relegations in 3 Seasons, Torquay United found themselves as a big fish in a small pond, and I felt the challenge of raising a sleeping giant (by LLaMa standards at least) was to good to refuse.

With Brentford as a feeder club, Torquay were offered 2 or 3 decent players every year. As Harrogate Town, trying to sign worthwhile players on loan was becoming a bit of an ache.

I was revamping a squad that was already capable of winning the league, and we achieved just that, beating off AFC wimbledons challenge in the last game of the seaon. We had dissapointment in the cups, losing in the qualifying rounds of the FA Cup against none other than my former employers.

Conference South: 1st Place - 88 Points
FA Cup - Lost 4th Qualifying Round Replay vs Harrogate Town (Bloody typical)
FA Trophy - Lost 1st Round vs Sutton Utd

NB: Harrogate Town finished 22nd, getting Relegated.

Hoorah - Professional Status, I was clearly moving up in the world.

The club was attracting 3000 fans to each home game, so despite a large debt and no spending money, my wage budget was excellent. I Brought in many new faces to bolster the squad, actually going over my wage budget slightly.

The new look squad had many quality players, but a lack of cohesion meant poor consistency, and a poor league finish. Although turning on the style in the FA Trophy left us as eventual winners, following a comfortable 2-0 win over Weymouth in the final.

Torquay United (Respectable Position)

After going over the wage budget last season, coupled with several players having yearly increases written into their contracts, I was scared too sign anyone on a permanent deal.

I was hoping the players from last season could become an oiled machine, and our league form was a massive improvement, finishing only 2 places below the play-offs, despite never truelly being in contention for them due to a mid-season injury crisis. Big dissapointment in the cups.

National Conference: 7th Place - 70 Points
FA Cup - Lost 1st Round vs Millwall
FA Trophy - Lost 1st Round vs Stafford

NB: Harrogate Town finished 1st in the Conference North, getting Promoted.
