Running AVG in the background just caused the corruption of my history files within the game. Player, team and competitions histories all ruined.

I've just had all my history corrupted in a save game that is currently in 2014.

I have absolutely no doubt that it was caused by AVG doing whatever it does in the background while the game was running.

I do not have the technical knowleadge to explain why this is the case, however if you look at this search page you will see info from people with far more info than I have.

This is not a joke and I am only doing this to save you from what I have just experienced.

Mmmm... I have AVG. I presume it is safe running AVG when FM isn't?

I think so but if I'm honest I'm not 100% sure.

I just went through an autosave at the same time as AVG kicked off so it might be linked to game-saving while running.

I've got to admit that I don't really know. What I do know is that this is definitely what caused it in this instance.

Others have been ummin and arring about this for a while both in GQ and bugs, but this definitely just happened to me.

I'm obviously not happy .

I don't have AVG, but I have added the FM2007 folder as a "safe" folder so my anti-virus doesn't even scan it - maybe you could try the same sort of thing in future to avoid re-occurrences?

I always turn off my anti virus (AVG) when running FM. It's always been known to aid speed of play.

If you mean while I was running FM. Then the answer is, by accident.

If you meant why ever because it's sh1te. Then thye answer is because I'm pretty much a novice at stuff like this and it was free and I didn't have anti-virus protection.

AVG's pretty widely used in the UK, Vlad.

AVG is a very good free anti virus. I have it installed, but I do usually turn off the shield on my computer to speed up resources.

If I am actually looking for viruses I use a freeware tool called f-prot.

I am ****ing sick of lazy programmers making products that involve you having to turn off your anti-virus and/or firewall. The new version of iTunes is the same, and I am now definitely converted to the anti iTunes mob.
