Apparently there is a way to instruct your AV programme to ignore certain files, (such as FM). Does anybody have any information on how to do this?
I might give Avast a go in the meantime. Thanks Kov .

I think your point was very well argued Jimbo. It does seem that Marlow is full of bull. |

Please don't get me started Church .
It's a battle that doesn't seem winnable so I've given up fighting it.
SI seem to have re-created the problem themselves, (because they acknowleadge that it exists), but don't seem to be willing to share exactly how it affects FM or even what AV programmes cause this to happen .
Avast seems to only be free for 60 days, (and to be honest it seems a little daunting to someone of my limited knowleadge). Is anyone running AVG 7.5 who could give me a little walk through as to how to set up the parameters so that the Quote:
C Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2007\Temporary
| file is not scanned.
It appears that the file doesn't have to be deleted for this problem to be caused, (I know this has caused many AVG users to doubt the validity of my comments because AVG doesn't delete files without confirmation). It just has to be scanned and 're-arranged' somehow .

I am flying over to England on Friday so we really need to get the handshake sorted quickly.
As it is thanksgiving in the states tomorrow we could always have our official greeting as being Gobble-Gobble-Gobble, no mooing allowed that is what marlows click will do. |

To turn off automatic scans on AVG:
Right click on the AVG icon in your taskbar and select Launch AVG Test Centre. Click Scheduler and click on the schedule that says something like "Test plan in basic mode" and then click the Edit Schedule button. A little window pops up which you can then untick the 'Periodically start scheduled antivirus test' or set it to a time when you won't be playing, if you want to keep the autotest feature on.
To scan selected areas of your system, again launch the test centre and select the Scan Selected Areas button and choose the areas of your computer you want AVG to scan (and which not to). Obviously you'll need to know the location of the folder you don't want scanned in order to exclude it.
You can also turn off automatic 'healing' of infected files by selecting 'Tests/Selected Areas Test Settings' and unticking the 'Automatically heal infected files' box.

I only say that because I do pay for my anti-virus software. I don't have FM07 so can't comment on whether it fecks it up.
