You don't have to turn off your firewall, Adam, but FM will run faster if you do.

There's was little app called "End it all" which does just that it closes everything down that isn't explicitly needed to run windows (or you can set it to allow other apps)

I always used this when I needed to give FM/CM a boost.

I'm not sure how, but this also affects save game files that have been made before the corruption occurrs .

AVG might be a great product, but is annoying as f**k. I had it installed exactly 30 minutes, before removing it. He found viruses in original .exe files like fm.exe. And i ahve no viruses what-so-ever.

So, I changed back to AntiVir.

I leave my firewall on, but turn AVG off when hosting. No issues yet (touch wood).

AVG deletes temporary files that are critical to your existing game. I found this without any prior knowledge of this issue with AVG. Was halfway through my third season, and the fixture list for 2009 failed to generate, as well as the distortion of player and staff histories.

Seriously considering uninstalling AVG completely before the next patch is released. I'd rather use no antivirus software and gurantee that FM2007 runs correctly than to take any sort of risk whilst running AVG in parallel with FM2007.
