For some unknown reason my players with a man marking ability of 18 or above seem more keen on ball chasing like school kids.
What is the point in having player instructions when the knob heads don't listen?
I put time and energy (very little of the latter lets face it) into sorting my tactics before a match making sure my players are all man marking the opposistions best players. What happens? I'll tell you what ****ing happens.
My retarded CBs decide that instead of following my instructions and MARKING THEIR MAN, they will instead leave their man unmarked in the penalty area and instead, run out to the wing and help out my left or right back. At wich point the opposition winger pops a cheeky little ball in the area for the unmarked striker to smash past my poor keeper.
I actualy tried man marking recently and it did not work well at all.
I think it was because my players were too slow, so i gave up on it. Decisions, positioning, pace and Anticipation will all play a big part in how good they are. (I would have thought)

I think i usually have them on close down always. I would expect that to mean close down the player you are marking though....not every bastard on the pitch CMs seem to be the same to
There's more too it than just ticking man mark. You may have a genuine problem but the only way for anyone to be able to tell, or to be able to help you if it's fdown to something you're doing wrong, is for you to start a new thread with a better title in the tactics forum and post screenshots of your two centre backs attributes, their individual instructions and your team instructions.
Also include detail of whether you use the opposition instructions at all.

There's one problem straight away. High closing down and man marking can be conflicting instructions. Closing down determines at what point on the pitch a player will close down the opposition, the higher it is the higher up the field your players will look to close players down.
So if you've got your defenders on high closing down as well as man marking the strikers he's likely to leave his man and look to close someone down higher up the pitch.
To be honest I don't like using man marking as a general rule. I find that if playing a half decent team the opposition strikers will pull your defenders out of position too easily and leave space for other players to exploit.
That's why I generally stick to tight, zonal marking.
lol, instructions in this game, you think thats bad try asking your amc not to hit long shots, instead no matter what you do he will have 8 a game and miss them all, and in the process kill attacks.
