I always wondered what managers and players do in their spare time? Do they play this game? And if they did I wondered how they felt about it's realism? Did they get hooked onto the game - so much so it affected them in real life football? DId they try out tactics/formations in FM that they would have never tried out in real life and receiving such a good response that they actually tried it out in real life?

I once read a post about Freddy Guarin from Columbia playing this game. Is there anymore? And I do know that FM game developers have one or two ex football managers to give some background or inside knowledge on football management. But none of the names are big names. (This is not a post about trying to get big name managers for game developing).

I wonder what Jose Mourinho does in his spare time now that he has abundance of it? Carrying on with Chelsea from where he left off?
Or what about Johan Cruyff who is mad about tactics, formation and playing simple football? Do they play FM to let themselves experience what they might have experienced?

Several Danish players play the game - and enjoy managing a team they play for themselves

(why I don't know cause teams with danish players IRL all seem to lose... )

Unlikely. Most are out pulling gold diggers in clubs and finding ways to gamble away their £30K per week wages.

Iain Dowie plays the game. He uninstalled the patch because he found the closing down bug more realistic to the way he manages.

A Greek chairman and a manager some years ago used to scout players through FM(you know - they used to check editor and find players with lots of potential and brought them to their team!!!)

im good friends with michael kightly (wolves) he used to play it growing up but doesent have the time not since he was 18 anyway,

i doubt good managers play it why go for something thats quite realistic when you have the real thing?

id imagine semi pro managers or players probably do

i think i heard once that either Steve Bruce or Bryan Robson's kids play FM and tell him who to look at for potential transfers, but I don't think it's any more than that.

i doubt rafa plays it, his rotation policy with patch2 would cause morale to plummet for non-first teamers..

I remember someone who knew Freddy Guarin (legend from FM06) got the whole youth team hooked on FM. They managed Ajax because the Dutch league does not have foreign restrictions and signed the whole Columbian? youth team.
