I don't know for certain myself but I heard they do.

Apparently you just have to rename your exe file to FM.exe let's say so FMM can start doing its normal loading and editing.

Hey kpup, I live in the States and I always order Football Manager without any problem from Gameplay. Mine is actually on its way and I am salivating in anticipation. I couldn't play WWSM without the option to have my players valued in British pounds. Seeing the US dollar in the game looks odd to me.

Have you tried changing it in the options?? I know that's an obvious suggestion, but it would seem to me like you should be able to change the currency just like in the FM version.

I can get used to the Dollars, but I was more concerned about not getting a "diluted" version of the game or having something "different" about the game for the American market. But from all I've read it seems like it's the same game in a different package.

I've been using GAME to buy it over the years, but this year for some reason it didn't work. I tried other sites and none would give me the option to ship to the U.S... (Didn't try Gameplay though. Maybe next year)

Oh well, I should get the game at some point next week!! Can't wait!!!

(In the mean time I'll go take a look at Cleon's '08 Tactic Thread - really helped me out a lot last year!)

The only reason I'm bumping this topic back up is to get an answer on a serious question:

If the difference between FM and WWSM is purely cosmetic (as we were told before), why is it taking so much longer to duplicate a beta-patch that was ready (and has been in use by FMers) 5 days ago??!

I am no programmer, but such a delay makes me fear that the differences go far beyond the name and language of the game...

Are WWSMers REALLY getting the same game??

I heard that SI made changes to the match engine for WWSM to make it "easier on" Americans. More scoring, fewer draws, etc.

This is nuts...It makes no sense to me.
I am a guy that was not computer savvy and had copies given to me in former versions of the game...Now I buy the game, last two seasons, WWSM. FMM doesn't work with it, Genie doesn't work with it, and I know this is third party stuff that SI can't be responsible for but here is my gripe/questions...
1. If the game is not available as a boxed game in stores, why name it WWSM? The people that are Digi Downloading it know exactly what it is, SI should have just (IMHO) provided a DD for FM for the North americans...
2. This patch and beta patch nonsense...They always release the FM stuff prior, leaving us NA red headded stepchildren to be neglected.

I hate to sound impatient, but I bought the game, it should work, it doesn't...(I play as Gers in SPL and apparently second season fixtures don't appear, nevermind the closing down bug) etc etc... I waited a full week following initial release, hoping that by waiting a week I would wait out this situation I experienced last year with 07...I saw the promise of a patch "released early next week" It is now past the 'work day' in the UK, and now wednesday (at least in my world) is mid week, not early in the week...

Change the Language in Preferences to English (UK) and you won't get the beautiful game being called Soccer. I think this years FMM works with it.
