I think this is a relevant thread that has lots of interesting posts regarding scouting and the possible flaws the new system has.

Clarification: Scouting potential/current abilities

Good read.

A lot of good additions to the scouting side of the game.

Sounds great, if any of those features actually work.

Here is a thread with a different slant.

To summarise.

When you advertise for a scout at the job centre with a low reputation club you don't get any replies for the first few months.

Then, when you decide that you've waited long enough and will go and head0hunt a scout he signs ok and then goes off to scout the far away land of.......... England. The only problem now is that he doesn't send you any reports for the first couple of months he is searching.

I'm surprised SI had the bottle to try and put some spin on the scouting issues .

It might just be me but it looks like your scouting knowledge would be pretty useless if you move clubs in FM 08, the way the scouting works now i mean

It seems there is a lot of negativity with regards to scouts and scouting. I think the report cards are good however:

-Scout are too accurate with the future ability predictions especially the higher quality of scout
-They know too much too soon it needs to be a far, far more gradual process
-Attributes should be masked longer or
-Depending on the scouts JPA stat they should be potentially wrong, increasing in accuracy the more you scout the player
-Scouts uncover stats too quick. Should be something like Key Physical, Key Technical, Other technical, Mental etc. Several reports should be required as this makes it more realistic. Currently you can scout a player and know EVERYTHING straight away.

Just a few of my feelings with regards to scouts and scouting.
