Getting sick of seeing this.

When the tactics are working well, keeping them well at bay and often winning the game, the opposition will, almost without fail, hit me with a 35 yard strike or a free kick.

This happens once or twice a season in real life at the level I'm playing at.

Not always that exact sentence, but long range shots happen far too often.

i.e. goals that you can do nothing about.

That's clearly not what I mean.

There seems to be a large number of long range shots going in. An unrealistic number for the lower levels.

Most of the goals I concede come from outside the area. Free kicks or just long range efforts with huge swerve that players in the Lover Leagues simply don't score very often.

When you've got your tactics worked out well enough to give them one or two shots a match, you don't expect them to be able to score at will from 20-35 yards.

Hmm, pre patch I had screamers going in right left and center, but nowadays i get them very rarely and almost everytime there is a "trademark shot"

I know what you mean, I'm still on FM07 and it's pretty much the only way the opposition can score against me, rather annoying but I know the reason:

I have a deep defensive line and my closing down isn't particularly high as I play high tempo - especially my central defenders - there's always a weakness to a team and that's mine, I reckon it could possible be yours too

Managing in top leagues I see a goal scored from 30+ yards once ever 15 games. If anything, midrange shots (18-25 yards) don't go in often enough and long range are perfectly fine at this level. Though looking at the goals of the week/month theres always one where a player simultaneously knicks a defender and shoots in one motion to lob the keeper from 40 yards, though this is always in computer vs computer games as I've never seen it happen in my game.

I'm kinda sick of seeing my own players score 30+ yard efforts tbh

Fm 2008 'feels' more like an arcade game as opposed to a simulation in this version.

Kinda like the difference between Pro Evo and Fifa.
