What the title says. I created a database with my sunday league side and my friends in it. Had no problems. It was just for show anyway, it was fun to see myself and the gang in the game. The club wasn't in any league and I'm sure the db worked fine in the game. I had been making changes quite often but today I changed some stuff, saved and exited normally. Now I can't load up the database in the game or in the editor. Obviously it's corrupt but I can't see why. The only changes I made in the last "update" was changing the future transfers into players already owned by the club. Deleted future transfer tab info, added club contract tab info. I gave them contracts with normal values iirc. That's it.
Anyway the db is corrupt anyhow so I just want to know what could have made it so, to avoid any further troubles.
Just another question while I'm at it. The crash happens at a certain point while loading people. If I copy paste the people_db from the original database to replace my corrupted one, will it work? By work I mean load up in the editor. I'd like to salvage as much as possible from my ruined database.
It sounds like it's a hardware issue, not with the FM editor.
I'm a little sketchy on this, but data is written to a cache and then sent to the hard drive for saving. This means that frequently accessed information is already available in your RAM.
Sometimes a hardware failure, caused by faulty hardware or a power spike or some other nuisance, causes the data to be corrupted during the write to the hard drive, rendering the file almost useless.
It depends on your OS, but you may need to alter the cache settings, or check that your hard drive does not have any dodgy sectors.
People with more hardware knowledge, please embellish my post.
