Well, the last version of the game was set up so that the maximum amount of money a club could have was somewhat related to that club's size/reputation or something.
How much are you trying to give, and to whom? I've edited the finances of 2 clubs without any problems (yet).

I'm having the same problem with Liverpool. I've put the finances up but whne I start a new game the finances end up lower than what they were before. The transfer budget goes up but the balance gets lower.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I find the same thing happens... I attempted to increase the budgets of 20-30 clubs across europe to make the game more competitive and get some interesting big money signings going. Alas the same issue... Put a budget of say... 100m on Newcastle... start game and it's less than 8m with a transfer budget of 70m..!! This bug occured in the 2007 version and was only fixed once a patch was released.... no help I know but wanted to add weight to the issue..!
